We leaked about 1 Object per second, when an active GPS was showing ownship on the screen. Works out to about 3 hours, give or take. .............

New OCPN code in github master now.

Very good, I think you made it. The code pulled today has now been running for about eight hours without any crash.
Many thanks.

Rick...
That NSIS 3.0 is your problem is pretty sure.

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.3.1931 Released

Hi Dave!

I posted this on the Furuno GOS upload page but wasn't sure you saw it so I'm reposting here.

Sorry it took me so long to reply.

I've finally done a test with 3.3.1931 and I've got good news and bad news. The good news is that it appears to be communicating properly with the GPS. When the upload completes, the GPS beeps indicating it received the upload.

The bad news is that the format of the data being sent to the GPS has changed and it's causing a problem. The $GPRTE sentence is only including 2 waypoints per sentence. 3.31824 is working properly for me and it sends 7 per sentence. Furuno can only accept 4 $GPRTE sentences. My 10 waypoint route cause 5 $GPRTE sentences to be created and I'm almost certain that is the cause of the problem.

As for renaming route waypoints, I understand your concern. It's a damned if you do and damned if you don't situation. I'm sure in the future you'll get people claiming the Furuno upload doesn't work if they have waypoint names that exceed 6 characters or use lower case letters. Furuno users will have to understand the limitations of their GPS and learn to accommodate it.

In any event, I didn't realize I could reverse the route and get it to renumber the waypoints. I'm always moving forward, rarely back!

I also tested 1931 on my other ports and it still doesn't work. I don't believe it has anything to do with OpenCPN. I have my uploads working again with my one good port and I'll keep trying to research that and find the answer. Someone mentioned voltages as a possible issue. When I have time, I disconnect all ports and test them one at a time as the only connection to the GPS. I suspect I'll find the solution when I do that.

Let me know if you would like me to test again. I've attached 2 jpegs showing the NEMA outputs from the good upload(the first one) and the upload on 3.3.1931(the 2nd one).

Rick...
It looks like your environment is still screwed up, the packaging works normally if your setup is according to the build instructions...

I was running "phiggins" old AIS simulator on /dev/ttyS0. To do this you have to give yourself root privileges by means of sudo. O threw this dialog at me.

The simulator worked just fine without this bad advice.
I don't think that we want to advice anyone to join the "root" group .....

I know that this is an odd corner case. I'm probably the only one ever getting this message

I also got this kind of message this summer with O 322 W 7 under.

I solved the problem by shutting down the PC and restarting the PC and O.

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.3.1931 Released

Hello Dave, Hello Mike, Hello Paul,

Here is a problem, a serious bug, which concerns OpenCPN but probably also the plugins Tcurrent and GE2KAP.

I had already encountered this problem this summer (GE2KAP V11)and this again with the release 3.3.1931.

I had installed 331931 and I added the plugin Tcurrent Mike. It works correctly.

Yesterday I added the plugin GE2KAP (V12). I tested GE2KAP in which there are bugs but I contacted Paul about it. I do not think the bug had to do with the problem I have also.

Since I installed and tested GE2KAP:
- I have a warning message to the O startup. See the screenshot copied on it.
- Icon plugin Tcurrent no longer appears in the icon bar of O.

THEN :

- I tried to disabled GE2KAP. The problem does not disappear.
- After disabling GE2KAP, I deleted the file ge2kap-pi.dll. The problem does not disappear.

I remember on my last similar test, I had great difficulty in getting rid of this problem. I expect was to have to uninstall all and, perhaps, clean the registry with CCleaner.

Best regards

Hello Dave,

The chart bar is not below. Now, the chart bar is under the icon bar.

Note that simultaneously, I was running firefox, thunderbird, GE2KAP, GE and O. This was possible last year. Not now ....

See screen copy .

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.3.1931 Released

Gilletarom...

I have never seen this message before. It is definitely not part of OpenCPN base code. Also not present in TCurrent PlugIn.

Some google search does not give much, but suggests that it relates to USB copy protection dongles. This makes me think of VisitMyHarbors chart stick. Or any other USB devices you may have.

Does this give you any ideas?

Thanks
Dave

By the way, I would like to see a copy of your logfile when in OpenGL mode on 3.3.1931, just to confirm your OpenGL environment is being detected correctly.
Thanks
