Zoom on GE2KAP produced chart fails

First image shows a chart produced by GE2KAP.
Second image shows failure to display the chart when zoomed in.
Does not happen with 3.2.2

Terry...

OK, lets see the chart. Can you upload here?

Is this the only instance that you have seen of this type of distortion?

Thanks

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.3.1931 Released

Hi Ho...

I just got a couple of crash dumps from an anonymous tester. OCPN failed to start, crashed on reading navobj.xml.

Its a user testing German and Netherland ENCs, mostly.
If this is you, please raise your hand. I can help you get going.

You will need to edit your navobj.xml file and find a route that has only one point. That is not normal, but happens sometimes. Anyway, delete that route manually.

After that, OpenCPN should start normally.

This is a bug, not seen before, but clear and easy to correct from the crash dump.

Thanks
Dave

Couldn't upload the chart here but you can download it from this link.

Location is at 11 17.3573 N 124 02.5896 E

This happens on many other charts created with GE2KAP but not consistently

Terry...

I got the chart, but cannot reproduce the problem on linux or Windows.

Are you using OpenGL?

Anyone else care to try out this neat chart?

Thanks

Not using OpenGL. Running W7Ultimate on Lenovo S100 netbook.

Here's another one that does strange things. First zoom is distorted but zooming again it is clear. Download from this link.

Dave & Terry

No problems with, or without, OpenGL.

Do you get this problem with opengl? It looks like in this case the alignment is wrong.. does the skew amount changes as you pan the edge of the chart nearer to the edge of the screen? Can you reproduce on a different computer?

If it works fine with 3.2.2, and you can build the source, this might be a good case to use git-bisect to find which commit broke it.

Dave,
your Mac OSX version 3.3.1931 crashes.

1. Make some hypertext links in a waypoint properties.
2. Open this waypoint properties again and try to delete a hypertext link with right-click popup menu item "Delete".
3. Bingo, crash:

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.3.1931 Released

I don't see any other posts related to my problem. Using Windows XP on Panasonic Toughbook CF-29..

When I try to use the OpenGL version my laptop locks up and I have to do a hard reboot (power off/on). When I use the No OpenGL version it loads and runs fine.

At first I just did the upgrade and thought maybe that was the problem. I never tested the No OpenGL version. I uninstalled OpenCPN and did a fresh install of this beta version. Same issue until I tried the No OpenGL version.

Didn't have this problem on the previous beta (3.3.1606) version. I could not find any information in the system/application event viewer so I have nothing to share as far as why this could be happening.

If you have a parameter I can set when starting OpenCPN to help debug this, let me know and I'll give it a try.

Dave,

it looks pretty much the same what I reported with BSBs on July 30:
//www.cruisersforum.com/forums/f134/opencpn-beta-version-3-3-1824-released-128480-14.html#post1595781

It's still there for my BSBs ...

I'm running Win7 64bit (Ulitmate) as well, and on my Laptop it only happens with OpenGL off, for raster charts only (CM93 is OK) ...

Edit : With 3.3.1606 it is still OK.

ASUS EeePC 1015H, W 7 Starter, O 331931

I download the chart.I confirm the chart Yachtvalhalla problem.

OpenGL OFF: These are problems of screen refresh, rather than the problem of zoom.

OpenGL ON:
- No problem with "Accelerated scrolling maps."
- Problem only with the border of the chart with "texture compression" when zoom is greater than possible
