Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.3.1419 Released

I have the same question with duplicate Marks, they are allowed, but should they be.

My knee jerk reaction is that neither Marks or Routes should have duplicate names.

I could live with adding "*DUP*" to both. (There are some islands in Panama that end in dup.)

The least desirable is to allow duplicate names.

Having said that, what too do about duplicate names that already exist? The easiest answer is that it's the users problem. After I have the fix installed I plan to go through my waypoint files and eliminate duplicates.

If you want to modify a route and leave the original intact - simply 1. import the route 2.rename it, 3.modify it, 4.export it. If the route is already imported skip step 1. I dont think you need to be able to load a duplicate. You should get a warning that you are importing one.

Right now, you can import duplicate routes but not duplicate waypoints. You can create duplicate names when creating waypoints and routes. Maybe we should do the check here as well?

Looks like the "Prolific trap".
This site Astro-Beano: Pharos/Microsoft GPS-360 on Raspberry Pi
states:
Quote:
As an aside, finding drivers for older versions of Windows was quite easy, but Profilic won't support their older PL-2303HXA and PL-2303X chips under Windows 8, using this as a stick to encourage people to buy their newer PL2303TA chip instead. Ouch.
and we had some complaints about Prolific equipped USB drivers not being available for W8 here in the forum.
Here is a description how to try to get away:
http://www.airdevilaccessories.com.a...stallation.pdf

You might as well try a search for "prolific" AND "Win 8" in the postings.

Good luck!

I have never seen the toolbar grow, as you explain.
What I do see is that the toolbar flicker or "reload", as soon as I click "Measure Off". This does not happen in Windows.

The problem is bigger on a horizontal orientation of the toolbar than vertical,

Funny,

under OS-X no sign of this stuff and under Debian/ARM neither.

You have quite a flock of plug-ins installed. To hunt down the issue perhaps you might try to go back to simple basic install and have a look what happens.
Just an idea...

Yes, I have seen this in Ubuntu also.
Try to move the toolbar to the left corner, so the GPS gadget is at his original place in the upper right corner. Perhaps this helps.

Thanks Ptizef, that conversation was lurking at the back of my mind.

To you who have the problem.... Are you all using the Unity windows manager?
