Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.3.1419 Released

Tore...
The default browser is an OS setting, nothing to do with OpenCPN. Could you please post a small sample of your current POIs?

Pavel

Tore...
The GPX looks good and actually everything works as expected for me. Which Windows version are you running on your machine?

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.3.1419 Released

Pavel.. I use Windows 7 build 7600

All my POI´s are in the C:/ProgramData/layers directory,as well as in the main OCPN/layers directory.

I have hundreds of POI´s around the world and they all worked previously?

Thanks for your help.

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.3.1419 Released

About 8 hours underway today - 2 blue screens. The first one happened shortly after we left the dock and I must confess I was a little preoccupied with fog and darkness and crab pots so I neglected to note the exact wording of the W8 message but it was different than the 2nd crash, which happened about 6 hours into the trip. That message was Attempted_execute_of_no_execute_memory, whatever the hell that may mean.

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.3.1419 Released

hello Dave,

I just realize a test with O331419, using route manager and the command "Send to GPS".

I realize this test without GPS connected to the PC.

Then there is a error. This is normal. Here my log file (I test twice).
---
17:41:10: EnumerateSerialPorts() Found Garmin USB Driver.
17:43:34: Garmin USB GPS could not be initialized
17:43:34: Error Code is -1
17:43:34: LastGarminError is: SetupDiEnumDeviceInterfaces
17:45:30: EnumerateSerialPorts() Found Garmin USB Driver.
17:45:38: EnumerateSerialPorts() Found Garmin USB Driver.
17:45:44: Garmin USB GPS could not be initialized
17:45:44: Error Code is -1
17:45:44: LastGarminError is: SetupDiEnumDeviceInterfaces
---

In this case, is it possible to display a message saying "No GPS connected" instead of the actual alert message ?

B.R. Gilletarom.

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.3.1419 Released

With no marks loaded, I import All (Ctrl A) routes from a folder and then look at the Waypoints tab; I will find multiple instances of waypoints that have been used in multiple routes. I don't think it makes a difference if you have marks loaded; it's just easier to see.
I don't get multiple instances of waypoints when I:
Import singly two routes with common waypoints; all WP appear singly in the WP tab.
Import a range of routes, some containing common waypoints (using left click and Shift left click); all WP appear singly in the WP tab.

IGNORE this I think that it's an side effect of doing an export all when I meant to only export routes and not WP. Will check further.

OK I think I have it now.

1. Delete all routes and WP's
2. Create a WP called X; Create 2 routes ending in X, call them 1 and 2.
3. Export Selected 1 and then Export selected 2.
4. Delete all routes and WP's
5. Import 1 and then Import 2; in the WP tab you will see only 1 X
6. Delete all routes and WP's.
7. Import 1, Import 1, Import 2; in the WP tab you will see 2 X's.

Unfortunately these multiple instances, of the same WP, tend to propagate. In my WP file, I have found lots of 2's, some 3's and one 4.

With the new features (Export Selected) I can manage my Routes and WP's the way I prefer; but I have some clean up work to do. The above is not a big deal as long as I export 1 Route at a time, make sure that I never import the same route twice, and delete all Routes before exporting WP's.

The duplicate WP doesn't seem to occur in 3.2.2

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.3.1419 Released

wdkester...

Regarding the duplicate waypoint issue mentioned above:

I have easily fixed the specific trouble spot you so kindly isolated. A solution will appear in the next Beta.

However, it begs the question:

What should we do if the same route is imported twice, as per your example? Today, we duplicate the route, using the same name, but give it a new GUID for internal management..

Going forward, I see three choices:

a. As we do today.
or
b. As we do today, except prepend the string "(Dup)" to the route name, so that at least it is obvious in the route manager that a duplicate was loaded.
or
c. Skip duplicate routes entirely on import.

I can't think of any instance where importation of duplicate routes is useful, and it is always confusing...
Am I missing something?

Comments?

Thanks
Dave

I thought I was somehow causing my duplicate routes. So my vote is for never importing a duplicate.

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.3.1419 Released

why not have a message dialog informing the user as well as asking if they want to import a duplicated route? Duplicates could be useful if you intend to modify it.

Exactly, but then marking those like a duplicate or third version as Dave already suggested.
