Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.3.1328 Released

Hello, many many thanks for all the work you dit the last years to make OpenCPN super. Also thanks for the last serial nmea inprovement. On my boat I used B&G H3000 system connected to OpenCpn. With only one screen at the inside. We used de B&G repeaters for display the current route. COG, BTW, DTW and ETA. B&G works only with the magnetic bearings for BTW. This is fixed with te "Use magnetics bearings in output sentence ECAPB"

The problem is it is not shutdown resistend. If you enabled it works fine. But Opencpn does not save the parameter. So the nextime you startup OpenCpn. the parameter is disabled.

#182. Improve AIS Msg9 (SAR Aircraft) rendering and query.

didn't make it to this beta, but the patch is now in git.
As a proof here is a "live" rescue helicopter.

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.3.1328 Released

problem?
Where I am,Magnetic variation it is about -17degrees.
but no matter how I do it (editing the field or letting wmm plugin supply it,) it is added. ie: 90T=107M I even tried 377 degrees in the field with the plugin disabled .

Also, can confirm the setting to enable Magnetic bearings is not persistent on restart of O

ah,sorry. Here is an example where the field is filled in.

My ownship longitude is roughly 124W. I put this course waay out in the Pacific to accentuate whereabouts versus the MagPole in Northern Canada...but still, 107 mag is wrong wrong wrong.

The WMM plugin is disabled here, but the result enabled will be the same.
(If anyone would like to move their ownship temporarily to out here, it would help me know if it was just an issue with Seagull computers...

..and routes no longer have arrowheads?

looking at opencpn.ini ...file "remembers" UserMagVariation= whatever-you-put-in, but "forgets" if you set ShowMag=1. It does not stay written and reverts to ShowMag=0

aha. SOLVED. It's the plugin.just "Disabling" doesn't stop it. Only removing it entirely from plugins folder allows my own setting to work.
So, now if I write "-17.0", Opencpn displays mag headings correctly!
It's a plugin problem, then. For some reason disabling plugins does not disable
AND the WMM plugin does not display -17.3 at my longitude. It cannot display a negative value apparently.

Just for a test I "moved" my boat to a -20 location. And my WMM seems correct?

Please put in Tracker under WMM_pi if you are sure.

Do you have a screenshot, please. Looking at Hakan's picture, -20.2 is displayed without any problem, so -17.0 should be visible without any problem as well.
And I still somehow don't get why you would want to enter -17 manually. Even if the text in the icon would not be completely visible, the value OpenCPN gets from the plugin will be correct and your mag bearing/heading should be just fine.
A bit more explanation and some, if possible bulletproof, testcase, please.

Thanks

Pavel

here, you can see the plugin on the toolbar displaying 17
there's a mark on the screengrab to see my position...
plugin version is libwmm_win32_pi18_v07_pi.dll

Pavel, I typed it in because, as you see, the plugin is displaying +17 ...but -17 is the variation here. ....True North is about 343M hereabouts, but the plugin thinks it is 017.
I had to remove the plugin from the plugin folder for my manually-entered value to work..The plugin cannot be disabled.

as you see, from the routes in earlier screengrabs, the value O gets from the plugin is +17...

If I move my boat to the EAST of the magnetic north pole, the plugin will display a negative value....the plugin is therefore acting backwards as far as I can tell.
It is doing this in two versions of O-

...and how about those missing arrowheads? on the route? Geez, I probably have evolved/corrupted a special breed of O...I probably should strangle it before it gets any stronger and escapes my laboratory...

Are you really saying that the WMM model is totally wrong??? It is very hard to believe for me that http://www.ngdc.noaa.gov/geomag/WMM/...010_D_MERC.pdf is totally wrong...
