Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.3.1006 Released

Good morning testers....

It would be very nice to see some Task Closure requests in the Flyspray tracker, if possible. I hope we are making some progress against this long list...

Thanks
Dave

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.3.1006 Released

Dave, I'd like to thank you (and Pavel and others involved) for all your efforts to create a long list of
"Implemented in Current Beta" http://opencpn.org/ocpn/flyspray/ind...atus&sort=desc and
"Solution Pending" in the tracker that should be tested and hopefully closed. OpenCPN::Tracker All Projects: Tasklist I am sure I speak for all users of Opencpn. Lets test and close these items if possible!

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.3.1006 Released

Hi Folks...

3.3.1006 has a serious flaw that affects those unfortunate Windows users with a particular type of faulty OpenGL drivers.

OpenCPN crashes immediately upon starting, regardless of the .ini file OpenGL setting and/or the command parameter -no_opengl.

There is no effective workaround in 3.3.1006.

These faulty OpenGL drivers seem to be relatively rare in the field, but have plagued us for some time. We have implemented identification/quarantine code in 3.3.1006 for these drivers. This code has faults and is not fully effective in 3.3.1006, but we have a solution that will be effective for the next Beta.

We will publish a new Beta within a few weeks to correct this and other problems. Meanwhile, Windows users affected by this bug, and who are able to build OpenCPN from source, may find the fix available on github now, as Version 3.3.1009.

Sorry for the difficulties.

Dave,

can you identify the drivers and/or platforms? - just to be aware before install..

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.3.1006 Released

bcn...
It's a small percentage of Windows machines with Intel integrated graphics adapters. Very small percentage. If the machine was not crashing with OpenGL in the older versions, it will not crash with 1006.

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.3.1006 Released

Well, my DELL W7 will crash with a memory leak after some run time. So I will stay away from 1006. Correct reading?

Hubert...

Nope, different problem. The OpenGL problem does not relate to memory leakage.

More info, please?

Thanks

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.3.1006 Released

Dave,

I noticed this last year and stopped from then using OpenGL. Problem is to reproduce the crash as it takes between some 20mins to several hours.
Without OpenGL the program (3.2.2) was rock solid this summer.

Will give another try when back to the boat (and with the new traceback enabled)

Dave

I can still repeatedly generate a crash in a route/wpt deletion scenario in OpenCPN 3.3.1009(alpha).
1 Create a two pt route.
2 Open the Route Manager.
3 Open the Routes Properties Dialog.
4 Back to the the mouse and delete one wpt in the route.
5 Segfault

One more.
1 Create a one leg track.
2 Rightclick Track -> Properties dialog.
3 Rightclick Track -> delete
4 Answer "Yes" to the popup.
5 Crash!

Thanks Dave.
That fixed the crash in #41.
Unfortunately #40 still crashes, no change at all.

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.3.1006 Released

hello Dave,

W 7 Stater, ASUS 1015 HA, 10', 1024 X 600. OCPN 3.3.1006

"-fullscreen" and F11.

First I test the new option "-fullscreen". All is Ok. OCPN run correctly and I can shutdown it with Ctrl Q.

Then I run OCPN and I try F11 .... No crash but see the first screen copy. And it is impossible to use F11 one another.

Then I use Ctrl Q. No crash. OpenCPN seem not shutdown ...
So I use Ctrl + alt + Suppr (task manager). OCPN was not present so it seem that it is shutdown. But there was a window open with only chart barr. See second screen copy.

So I use right click on desktop and I choice "Actualiser". Nothing occur. Impossible to display correctly the desktop.

You can see on the second screen copy that the icon of OCPN is present below. So I click on it and it is possible to shutdown the window.

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.3.1006 Released

Hello,

I'm working on a list of NMEA sentences that are accepted as input by OCPN.

The list in the wiki is not exhaustive.
NMEA Sentences | Official OpenCPN Homepage

Who can give me a full list?

Thank by advance.
