Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.3.1006 Released

Dave..
About OpenGL and bcn discussions: When I try to use OpenGL it takes some 15 to 30 seconds to update the screen for every change like moving the chart etc. From when OpenGL is activated I can use CM93 charts for while. But if I switch to raster, BSB, charts the performance is immediately that poor.

I as well live without OpenGL, no problem, but if you are interested I've collected some system info and OCPN data in the attached zip file. (Also my drivers are up to date, at least according to HP.

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.3.1006 Released

Hello Dave,

I saw and downloaded the new pot files OCPN 331006 and GRIB and Dashboard. I proposed a first traduction.
See : http://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/...ml#post1368552

It probably will be improved.

On the GRIB I noticed several problems. See screen copy.

- If Zoom is too +, a message is displayed bottom on screen. There is a mismatch. Two items appear. with a mix between the text, one in french, one in english.
- The item "Apply" is not in GRIB pot file
- Some items are in the GRIB pot file, so I tanslate these items but they are displayed in English.
*Go to preferences (red heart icon), in "Display" area,
** On the left "Precipitation" and all other items,
** Bottom, on the right, Units, "Millimeters" and all other items.

Other problem : I thing that there is a mistake in english mo file "Celcius" --> "Celsius" ?

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.3.1006 Released

hello Dave,

This morning (here in France), I test dashboard (vith new french file language). No problem in pot file. I thing that all is Ok.

BUT

I try a horizontal or vertical dashboard with some instruments. And I try to move this dashboard.
- first, it move very very slowly.
- second, if I put the dasboard too on the right, opencpn is blocked and then :
** it is impossible to move back the dashboard
** it is impossible to shutdown OCPN
** it is impossible to open Toolbox and a song is play when I try to open toolbox (ding)
So the only way to shutdown OCPN is to open the task manager (Ctrl+Alt+Del)

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.3.1006 Released

Who thinks of moving the map view by clicking?
Accidentally pressing the screen moves the map view mode resets the Auto Follow (Auto Follow mode requires Auto Turn On after a certain time)
I think that such action by clicking on the map reduces the performance of the operator, making do extra steps to automate this is not acceptable.

map view to be moved by pressing and holding the left mouse button or scroll wheel. This is done in all the popular ECS.

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.3.1006 Released

Baikal..
I really do! I use the one click mouse function a lot to move the chart. Very handy! And afterwords to return to Auto follow just hit "F2". I'm not saying I'm right but we are all different in our behaviours and OCPN is a very popular navigation system, isn't it.

Dave, et al

I can confirm this works thank you very much, I cannot get into FS at the moment but will try to tick off
95. Implement configurable Waypoint arrival circle radius, Options->Ships->Ownship (FS#1046)(FS#1085)

Thanks again.

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.3.1006 Released

There is a function since some versions back to prevent OCPN to load/start a second instance if the program is already running.
That's good and relevant but do you know that also a already running portable version prevents OCPN from starting up. So the consequence for me often running the local version together with a portal is that I have to start the local one first. If I happen to first start the portable OCPN will not load and I've to temporarily quit the portable to be able to start the local OCPN. It's not a big issue but it was a bit of surprise the first time it occurred.

I do not understand your post ....

I thought you had a task to open my place in the flysparay. I searched but could not find.

I suppose you want me to open a task instead of posting in this thread.

I'm not a newcomer. I know flyspray. I have already opened in the task flyspray.

But for the problem I have observed with dashboard, I think it has more beta testers confirmed.
This avoids cluttering the flyspray with unnecessary alerts.

I know of at least one other software that works like OpenCPN to manually move the map. This is PolarNavy.

Change button would be a significant change in habits.

By cons, actually, when moving, even accidentally the chart in hand, it stops the automatic tracking.

I would prefer that temporarily stops the automatic tracking. In other words, I would prefer if the automatic tracking is Inrush, it will be temporarily suspended, for example, for 1 minute. In this case, the button should stay red boat "down". Only manual intervention on the red button devarit stop permanently, automatic tracking.

Baikal you wrote:

after I suggested moving the discussion to Shortcuts Thread.
If you would take a moment and go there, you will find a discussion about "Shortcut" keys and "Keyboard Macros" (user defined strings of Key shortcuts).

Please join us there. Thank you.

Today, I tried again and I can not reproduce the phenomenon described in post # 63. And yet, the other day I could reproduce it.
On the other hand, nobody seems to have encountered this problem.

So I will not open a task in the tracker.
