Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.1.814 Released

Now I Open OpenCPN 3.0.2 downloaded compiled and it rebuilds the Chart Database automatically (very nice!, -same thing happens when then trying the Beta - also very nice!) and up comes the very same CM93 charts that I am trying to get working in the Beta!

It is probably something really dumb that I am doing... but should I bother to download the compiled version of Beta and see if it works?

Maybe I should rebuild and compile from the start again?

JesperWe, thanks, just saw your note from above. Will try that.

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.1.814 Released

1. Deleted all Chart Groups.
2. Deleted all Active Chart Paths.
3. Forced Rebuild
4. Closed Debug and OpenCPN keeping MS VC++ open
5. Restart OpenCPN in Debug mode.
6. Prompt "No Charts Installed. Please select chart folders in Toolbox - Charts." OK
7. Toolbox comes up - pretty smart!
8. Select Charts Tab
9. Add two CM93ed2 folders as active folders, both of which I know work in current version.
10. Select "Force Full Database Rebuild" - only selection available, other grayed out.
(When there is a new active directory, the program could automatically force a rebuild? - what is the downside?) Then I pick OK
11. There is a very quick popup window but I did not see any CM93 charts actually rebuilding it was so fast. (BSB takes longer). Perhaps I should check to see what happens when CM93 charts rebuild in the 'current' version which does work for me.

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.1.814 Released

I did try opening OpenCPN 3.0.2 and it automatically rebuilt CM93 and there was a very quick window which showed.
When I then add several CM93ed2 directories to lengthen the rebuild, and then Force Full DB Rebuild using only CM93ed2 charts, I can actually see it is scanning charts.

When I go back to the Beta version under MS VC++ and start Debug mode, the program automatically scans and converts the active folders and I it appears to be opening CM93 files (more quickly than BSB). Then there is a single yellow bar for charts at the bottom, but no chart showing. I click on the bar and it disappears.

I then go back to settings toolbox, charts and force a new scan and rebuild of the database to get the yellow bar again, it scans, I can see the directories/folders it is scanning, but there is no yellow bar now at the completion.

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.1.814 Released

Rick...

Your build logs look fine. I don't think it's a build problem.

In the case where you see the yellow bar, and then click on it, and then it disappears: Lets look at the logfile for this case. O is having some trouble opening the cm93 database.

It is safe to delete the logfile before you start, just to shorten it a bit for inclusion here.

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.1.814 Released

Hello Dave, hello JesperWe

I search pot file and I see that in the last version (14/08/2012) which is in the 3.1 stable branch the item "Cursor" is present.

But, if I see the pot file which is in the master branch (22/08/2012), the item "Cursor" is deleted.

This item appeared in the status barr. Is it normal that this item is not present in the future pot file ?

Best regards

Gilletarom.

There will be quite a bit of changes to translations for 3.1. The main part, the reworked options window, has not landed in the master branch yet. A lot of the texts have been tweaked to make sure they are all using similar language, similar case, no uncommon acronyms, correct units, etc etc.

Also as you have noticed some label texts have been removed from the status bar, to allow use of more readable fonts on smaller screens.

I would advice to wait a bit before working with the pot file from master branch, it will change again in the near future...

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.1.814 Released

Just a small request on behalf of those of us who don't compile our own versions of OpenCPN. Could you please put these HUGE log files into attachments?

Then we can follow the other issues raised in this thread without having to plough through pages of ... ... ...

I do apologize! I thought I was in the Development Debugging Environment -Help thread! Messages 158 to 170 should probably be in that thread.

I will try to attach files, but these forums seem to reject photo attachments and overly large text files.

Do you mean the opencpn.log file? ..under "C:\ <your-data-dir> \opencpn-git\build\opencpn.dir\Debug"

Would CM93 opening errors be in there?

Thanks.

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.1.814 Released

rgleason... you know about the ".doc" trick? you can upload larger text files by adding the ".doc"..

On my older firefox browser
Pictures\screengrabs usually work ok - but here's what I have been fooled by - the wait. Sometimes you have to wait awhile until the popup window subtly changes and you can see that the pictures were uploaded.
Still, I am sending 1024x768 png or jpg screengrabs and newer computers will be sending bigger ones that choke the site.

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.1.814 Released

Thanks H. Seagull and Dave,

Tried finding senc or snc files that are created when rebuilding database. Could not find in chart directories or under opencpn-git

Maybe its a driver file of some sort. I am going to compare O current to O beta files. No luck there.

Oh well, the BSB work ok. Maybe I should bag the debugging compile and just download the beta.exe.

Rick....

The OpenCPN help dialog will tell you where the OpenCPN runtime log is located. This is what we need to see.

Can I copy from Opencpn 3.0.2?

Also with this log file, you can which BSB charts aren't loading properly too.

Aha!! I totally forgot about that :-D

Since you are running from the debugger, the program wants to pick up its s57data folder in C:\Data-Dart\Up-Soft\Navigation\opencpn-git\build\s57data, not from the location of the installed copy. So you need to put a copy of the installed s57data folder in that location.

Or you can copy it from the source tree, OpenCPN/data/s57data
