Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.1.1105 Released

The following has me puzzled

This summer I experimented with a portable version of OpenCpn (3.0.2 I think) on a USB stick with a small selection of CM93 charts.(see pic for content). Everything was fine.
I've tried to select this tiny CM93 folder with 3.1.1105 but I could'nt have those charts on screen. No luck with deleting the coverset_sig files within the CM93 folder and rebuilding...
Any tinkering with CM93 access in the meantime ?

sailorF54...

May we see the relevant OpenCPN log entries when you try to run with this reduced chart set?

Thanks
Dave

Hi Dave

Log and ini files from a run involving rebuilding the chart database and panning the area covered by the reduced CM93 set. A few kap charts. No CM93 folder in Windows Programdata folder to start with, and none created. No yellow bar on screen.
I also get a crash when I zoom out of the area covered and pan.(see CrashLog)
Selecting the full CM93 creates the CM93 folder and the charts display fine.

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.1.1105 Released

Hi all

Partial CM93 set not displayed :
I tested with the same partial chart set as Sailor54 and the last compiled master and I confirm I got no display .
May be the crash with KAP is fixed now

I tested choosing another region (03900120 starting at 40° N / 40°E )
In quilting mode I got only a part of the region (20° toward N and E instead of 40°)
In no quilting mode , I got the entire region displayed , but dragging toward the north led O to hang and crash

Using Ptizef's set, no charts displayed and no CP93 folder created: Database rebuilt, Quilting, OpenGl irrelevant...

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.1.1105 Released

Hi
I'm new on the Cruisers forum but not on using OpenCPN. I've used it for a couple of years now and do highly appreciate the program and your efforts. My aim now is to applaud item 66 and not less the NMEA MUX function. I will now idle my ongoing implementation of a soft MUX, VSPE, and await the OpenCPN inclusion instead.

Thanks all. Håkan

Perhaps you can contribute to OpenCPN? Dave has asked for inputs to this area.

Yes of course if I'm able to contribute that's fine. What's in that case expected from me?

Without looking through all the other posts, has anyone found that you can't add a new connection with this version. I click Add connection and nothing happens even though I have a GPS attached. I an running Win7 32. I will try falling back to OpenCPN 3.0.2

Paul,
try "Add Connection" then use the ports choice (that should now be available) and then the "Apply" button...

it's this thread #75 OpenCPN Beta Version 3.1.1105 Released
a wrong answer to a different question but maybe right for you!

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.1.1105 Released

SailorF54...

I see the problem with that particular partial cm93 data set. It relates to Western hemisphere. Fix is in place for next Beta.

Ptizef.....
cm93 top level directories (like 03900120) are 20degrees in latitude and longitude. However, at very small scale, the Z-scale cell is shown in non-quilt mode. Z cells are larger than 20x20, so that is what you see when you zoom out. Odd construction of cm93 directories, IMHO.

So, then, considering the crash with non-quilt mode. This is a bug, easily reproduced. Fix ready for next Beta. Relates to search for highlighted light segments on uninitialized charts.

Thanks for the reports. All is understood, and soon fixed.

Dave

Thanks but the problem is the Properties does not appear to show the available ports. It does work on my other computer that is running Win8 but this one with the problem was just upgraded from XP to Win7 32 and shows no ports. The port that the GPS is on shows up the control panel and if I use GPSGate it sees the port fine.

Tried rebooting but still have the problem. I'm dropping back to 3.0.2 to see it it recognizes the port but its taking forever because it does a rebuild of the charts and I have 1000's.

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.1.1105 Released

Many thanks Dave
Try to compile beta master .
OK for partial CM93 set : Works fine now (correctly displayed and no crash )
But I was obliged to eliminate commit "Implement Garmin Protocol ...." because I had compile errors with "m_pdevmon" unknown in multiplexer.cpp .
Waiting for the next update ...
Regards
JP
