OpenCPN Beta test 4.1.1108 Release

Latest git (https://github.com/transmitterdan/Op...4fef758d640ee7) has a crash problem in windows. To duplicate I run in the VS2013 debugger. Select CM93 chart group (no other chart types turned on) and zoom out to see about 1/4 the world. Then pan west using left arrow key. Almost immediately O will trap here:

First-chance exception at 0x6D5B3D4D (glu32.dll) in opencpn.exe: 0xC0000005: Access violation reading location 0xFD849D88.
Unhandled exception at 0x6D5B3D4D (glu32.dll) in opencpn.exe: 0xC000041D: An unhandled exception was encountered during a user callback.

This is at line #2752 in glChartCanvas.cpp. The call to glTessEndPolygon(tobj) causes a memory exception. I think tobj is valid but don't know why glTessEndPolygon() blows up.

Ok, using TDan's python server, this newer version of Opencpn also freezes up!
I quit. I am going back to a previous version if I can find it. This one is messed up.

I just posted what might be an example of the freeze up. Can you run O in the VS2013 debugger and see where it traps an exception?

I now have it working with the 11-08-2015 v4.1.1108 on the opencpn.org download page Download OpenCPN | Official OpenCPN Homepage

Dan's python script works beautifully and so does VDR. So I think the current beta has a bug!

By the way, using Dan's python script, we are testing the entire Opencpn interface, including the nmea part, so I think it is a better test for opencpn.

I have Sean's plugin Sweepplot working with Hartmut's Meerkermeer....txt nmea file.

Latest git? Is it d7673fa Set upper bound on scaled vector chart text size?

I compiled that last and it failed with nmea data. Lets see what happens with this one tomorrow morning.

I have not been building on ARM for a while.

Tonight I built the latest and there was one big problem:

With OpenGL and texture compression caching turned on.

Raster charts are initially displayed OK, but then they are progressively blurred in rectangular sections until the whole chart is blurry.

Windows memory build up after "long" time use: OCPN hangs after eight hours.

I think some storage is full after around eight hours since UDP data is lost, as BR24Radar_pi announce 07:45. The log says:

The logged session is attached and the picture shows last memory usage, although in Swedish.
I still suspect the UDP connection?????

Now also successfully tested on another Win10 and another XP though both with the Intel 965 graphic chipset.

PS: Updated to current repos. I am embarrassed to say that I did not copy the newest opencpn.lib from opencpn/build/release to opencpn/build and I think that may be the problem. opencpn.lib was from 11/16. - Will find out soon.

Mostly I have been using my own builds of OpenCPN using "git pull" from the master on GitHub. When you asked this question (yesterday, 21 Nov), I was using the db55fce commit to verify that Dave and Sean had fixed the CM93 rendering problems were fixed. I build the install package for Win, and I make a parallel install. Then I install the VDR plugin using the vdr_pi-0.4-win32.exe installer from OpenCPN.org.

I have recently run Hakan's VDR with the Beta test 4.1.1108 Release from OpenCPN.org website and my builds on Nov. 14, 15, 19, 20, 21 and 22. The plugin works well with these.

I have tried to duplicate this issue but cannot. The memory usage fluctuates up and down based on the displayed chart region and scale but never "runs away". I even wrote a VDR player that outputs the west coast of Sweden VDR file via UDP. What type of data are you receiving by UDP? Can you make a VDR file that I can test with? Perhaps it is data specific.

I have downloaded the Opencpn Beta File DanT gave me and installed it overover my older versions of 4.1.1108.

This version still fails when running DanT python Nmea Server or VDR.
It is the same version as the one I compiled earlier which also failed.

The older Beta version on opencpn.org does not fail. I am going back to that, and I think I am going to quit this foolishness! Thanks for all your help.

Just to be sure, I uninstalled Opencpn v4.1.1108 and reinstalled it (the one TDan provided) with a fresh install (not parallel).
Tested and it failed again!
Then to be doubly sure I disconnected from the internet. Disabled Norton Firewall and Antivirus and tried it again. It failed three times.

To be perfectly clear, I am using Win7 on a Dell Inspiron 15 XPS Laptop L502 and it is nothing unusual. I don't know why it would not work on my machine and work on others.

I am going back to the sandbox to play in a stable environment.
