Many boards with integrated graphics will not run O with OGL(on) they just hang. Intel for example resisted support for OpenGL for a long time. Although they now support it some of the drivers for legacy graphics do not implement it "fully" or "correctly". GE may well run OK previous version of O 4.0.0 ran OK. They may well state 1.1, 1.2 or even 1.3 (latest ver is 3.0) I have a 945GSE that in theory is OGL 1.2 but in practice this is slower than without it.

1108 has caused a problem that on my machine it will now not display charts with OGL(on) that means the radar overlay cannot be used. The previous version 4.0.0 did not have this issue. So there is definitely a OpenCPN change that is resulting in or exposing some OGL bugs!

What is the make, model, OS, OGL Ver of your PC?

Sometime ago Carcode suggested a program which checks your graphics card features. Do a search on the forum or look in opencpn.org documentation, perhaps supplimentary programs.

It is called GLview and is available for free also for Windows 32bit + 64bit: OpenGL Extensions Viewer

However when other software like GoogleEarth works OK with OpenGL then there are other reasons why OpenCPN fails. I still guess the so called "Optimizations" has done the bad.

I Re-Installed 4.0.0 and tried this with the same charts, no problem.
During install I chose "Reset all config files".

Then I Re-Installed 1108 also resetting all config files, and the problem returned.

Using last git, I got some bad CM93 display I've never seen before
It's easy to reproduce and happens on three different environments and two different machines : W10/AMD Radeon HD 8180, Vista/Intell (R)4, Kubuntu 14.04/ same machine. CM93 2009 and 2011.

Go to 60N,40E and zoom / drag around.

Thanks, I didn't think of turning off quilting, that works.

I think the problem is related to this particular type of chart with two separate chartlets in one. The other chart I mentioned is similar.

Win10 and XP missing detailed levels in CM93 vector charts.

There's, again, a miss in details using cm93. It's hard to find the words to describe what happens so I've attached a video.
While navigating on a course where several chart levels are present the level of details is occasionally missed in different parts of the charts. This is a huge difference compared to OCPN ver-4.0.
The attached video shows a VDR replay on 4.0 and 4.1.1108. 4.0 is on the left and 4.1.1108 to the right. While 4.0 shows all details all the time 4.1.1108 very often miss details. Both sessions use the same vector data base and incoming NMEA streams are the same.

First time I load a video, let's see if it works or needs more compression.

Hi,
I downloaded the files recently and could compile without much problems on Debian 8.2. On first test it runs smoothly and is very responsive.

For a while I have been specially interested in chart projections and therefore wrote a little test progam for the projection routines in georef. The program reads a pair of (lat,lon) coordinates from standard input, converts to (easting,northing) and back to (lat,lon). I found that the results for polyconic projection are totally weird and some others also did't reverse well.
Looking at the code of georef (and studying the "Geological Survey Bulletin 1532" by J.P.Snyder, where most of the algorhythms seem to stem from) I noticed a couple of oddities and errors:

toPOLY: formulas 15-2, 15-3 and 15-4 are not coded correctly (page 128).
The effect is, that in formula 15-4 factor 'E' is wrong (sin phi not applied).
fromPOLY: iteration (formula 15-21) is also not correctly implemented, termination criterion not correct

from SM_ECC: the series solution is not very precise, iteration is much better.

in the routines for SM, SM_ECC, POLY the radius is multiplied with a factor k0_mercator of value 0.9996. In TM, you use a factor of 1.0. This doesn't make much sense to me. It seems, that someone just copied the boilerplate line "radius * k0_mercator".
According to Snyder, a factor k0=0.9996 is only in the context of TM. This is because TM is not true scale on the equator and to minimise some distortions.
In all other cases, the projection of an angle of 1' (one minute) on the equator should give 2piR/360/60. From my opinion, this k0 factor therefore needs to be taken out and applied in TM (exactly opposite from what it is now).
I made all changes as above, ran the test again and the results are much better.
The file test.c also contains a version of POLY_ECC.

The eastern part does not quilt.

Both western and eastern parts of US5NY25M quilt in 4.1.915 (my build)and 4.1.602 (beta).
