Re: OpenCPN Beta test 4.1.1108 Release

On windows (10 & XP)

There's a mix in reading opencpn.ini between my standard OCPN and my portable OCPN.
Usually I've one standard and one portable OCPN opened.

My standard O is located at: C:\Program Files (x86)\OpenCPN
My standard opencpn.ini is located at: C:\ProgramData\opencpn

My portable O is located at: C:\Users\admin\Documents\OCPN_Port
My portable opencpn.ini is located at: C:\Users\admin\Documents\OCPN_Port
The portable O is started by: C:\Users\admin\Documents\OCPN_Port\opencpn.exe -p (shortcut)

The portable O is starting and reads initially its own .ini. (There I've the traditional tools but not at standard O.) But in some processes also the standard's .ini is read.

One example:
In the portable's .ini there is one MMSI properties post. In my standard O's .ini there are six posts.
When portable O is opened there are seven MMSI properties posts. Now if I close it and read the .ini file there are seven posts. I delete all but one and open portable O. It reads again seven posts. I delete all but one.

Now if I rename the standard's ini file and open the portable O there is one post! And whatever properties I change is now stable after a close-open turn.
Ok, now I rename the standard's ini file back to normal and open portable O, - seven MMSI posts!

I've tried to follow things like:
if( g_bportable ) {
wxFileName path(GetExePath());
m_homeDir = path.GetPath()

But I'm lost after a while.
There is also a strange issue with plugin ocpn-draw's EBL that could be connected to the mixing of ini files?

Re: OpenCPN Beta test 4.1.1108 Release

gecomapi_pi plugin is now incompatible with OA Beta 4.1.1108. (I used the plugin without problems with Beta 4.1.1022 and Google Herth 6.2.2.6613).
Will be a compatible new version of gecomapi_pi?

Gilletarom...

Regarding toolbar icon size:

For experiment, please check options->UserInterface->"Enable Tablet Scaled Graphics interface". With this mode selected, the toolbar icons should be sized to minimum of 8 mm square. Also, the size can be increased with the slider bar.

Is this large enough, in your experience"?

Thanks
Dave

Re: OpenCPN Beta test 4.1.1108 Release

No change in behaviour from the previous beta - enabling OpenGL causes an immediate hang. I am able to force close, reopen O and then immediately select options and deselect OpenGL but any other actions results in a hang. I guess it is a slight change because previously I often got a crash to the desktop.

I agree. Easy to reproduce as you describe.

Corrected in github master now.

Thanks

B.R. Gilletarom.
Try using an alternative "Vector Palette" JesperWe's Swedish palette improves the water depths definition considerably. You can then build your own new palette to suite your requirements.

I suggest this is a driver issue relating to your graphics hardware. It might be that you hardware cannot support OpenGL full stop. It is also typical of what happens on Intel 945 and 965 series boards. See OpenGL discussion my Post :2 and Hoolie's post :18 above. There is some success in updating the driver for 965 but latest drivers for 945 boards do not solve the problem.

Re: OpenCPN Beta test 4.1.1108 Release

p { margin-bottom: 0.25cm; line-height: 120%; } Hello Dave,

I had at my disposal, an old PC with a screen of 10 inch Eee PC 1001 HA that was not working under Windows. I managed to install Ubuntu Linux 14.04 and then, with the help of Pavel and Peter05, OpenCPN 4.0.0.

I just manage to install O 411108.

I only have charts CM93 on the hard drive. It displays very well.

I created a group for CM93 charts.

If I choose to display all the charts, then Ok, the CM93 is displayed. If I choose to display the group of charts CM93, then nothing is displayed. I have only the base map.

I note this idea.

But this idea is not exploitable by any "alpha user"! It has to be convenient for all users. We need who opens for the first time OpenCPN either at home immediately!

Any ideas to make this better Gilletarom? Maybe put it in tracker?

U41 Lenovo, 14 inches, W 8.1. Good idea this test.

By placing the cursor over -5 or -2, it is still too small. But the icons to the toolbar, are net, ie which are not blurred.
There is no difference in the size of icons between "-5" and "-2".
By placing the cursor 0, the icons begin to expand. But because of this, they commencet to become blurred. That said, this deterioration in the sharpness remains suportable.
By placing the cursor on 3, 4 or 5, the icons become really big. But they are becoming increasingly blurred. This becomes increasingly désagrable. The sharpness of the images deteriorates too.

Ideally, the icons are still enjoyable to watch, regardless of their size.

I also want to say that the display of icons in the "Options" is always the same, whatever the cursor position. In all cases, "-5", "-2", 3, 4, or 5, the icons are small.

Dave, it works fine, thanks.
If anyone else has experienced the same my recommendation is to delete the mismatched portable config (ini) file and start from scratch.
