Re: OpenCPN Beta test 4.1.1022 Release

For O 4.1.925 on Win 8.1 I found that with both Objsearch and Survey_pi installed (together and seperately) O crashed, on exiting O. Wondered if it was linked with SQLite.

I uninstalled MSVC 2013 and the associated programs, then re-installed MSVC 2013 and the problem had gone away. Interesting to know if the French user is running 2013.

Current master builds just fine for me on all platforms, can you try a clean build please? Pavel
New clone, fixed 2 erros, still one error. Copied opencpn.lib. Perhaps related to chartdnldr opencpn.lib problem? See attached please.

Rick...
Just build again, opencpn.lib already exists now. And yes, we should fix it so that even the first build completes successfully.

First :
I ask the french user what kind of PC. He has 2 PC. One under W 8.1 and one under W10 (With CD ROM)

Secondly : an other french user said on the same forum that if Objectsearch is unactivate, then no crash under W 10.

That was pretty brainless of me!
I have to run cmake -T v120_xp again after I copy opencpn.lib into /build.
Thank you for great patience. It worked.

Don't have to copy wxWidgets etc. --very nice!

For others, to package NSIS "cpack" to work need sourceforge data put into buildwin, as usual.

Re: OpenCPN Beta test 4.1.1022 Release

Idea for Toolbar Icons ---> Plugin Icons at the end.
We can turn enable-disable and sort them now under Options > Plugins. - Nice.
Could that order be the order that they are displayed in the toolbar?
Should this be put in Tracker Features request?

PS Serge is it time to "close" the request for separate area for plugin toolbar icons? - Perhaps I don't understand something.

Gilletarom....

Re: OpenGL and nvVerlag PlugIn crashes...

1. I agree that the crash dump is empty. I will investigate this from my side. It may relate to the crash of "Crash reporter". Who can we trust? sigh...

2. On the charts crash itself, I think there may be one chart that causes the crash. In the picture here, I show the unquilted chart in non-OpenGL mode. No crash, but clearly a bad chart display. This means a problem in the PlugIn.

http://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/...9&d=1445854521

Perhaps you could discover what chart that is, and temporarily remove or disable it, to see if that makes a difference in the quilt crash.

If I understand correctly, that chart shows well in O4?

Of course, there may be other "bad" NV charts in 4.1.1025 as well. You may troll for them using non-OpenGL, non-Quilt mode.

Thanks
Dave

hoolie...

re:
"Inexplicably, to me anyway, the disappearing toolbar seems to be linked to the chartbar."

I confirm your observation about the toolbar.

The variable chartbar based on pan position is normal OCPN behaviour. The chartbar ("piano") is constructed based upon the available charts at the center of the screen. In a sparse chart environment, you will see piano keys come and go as you pan around.

However, a change in the piano key contents should not result in hiding of the toolbar, and that is a reproducible bug.

I got it.

Thanks
Dave

Re: OpenCPN Beta test 4.1.1022 Release

Something has changed between 4.1.06 and 4.1.1 that is causing crashes.
Unfortunately the Crash Reporter also crashes

at best, I get an empty crashdump.dmp file with 0bytes
I think it is some kind of "enhanced" chart sensitivity because that is all I am doing on a fresh install W7/64bit Open GL off....just panning around and zooming in and out with the mousewheel. At first I thought it was my old CHS Polyconics that are sprinkled around (mostly harbour plans) but without these "loaded", I still get crashes. Perhaps less frequently.

Still looking for the Reproducible Action, but so far it seems to be when dragging the view away from a chart I have been massaging with the mousewheel zoom....

the log is not helping:

Happy...

I am investigating.

Are you using BSB4 charts with the PlugIn?

Thanks

Re: OpenCPN Beta test 4.1.1022 Release

Dave, no plugin just my old 1996 rasters and a passle of imgkap-made topographics you see in the log.

CM93 is not loaded either.

I also got crashes with a portable version that has all my personal crapola and charts including polyconics.
The only difference with the portable was that it didn't freeze and didn't need TaskManager to shut O down...everything shut down after the message you see in the top screengrab.

Replacing 4.0.10 exe with 4.0.06 exe fixed it.

Re: OpenCPN Beta test 4.1.1022 Release

For what it's worth...the reason I am guessing this beta is "extra-sensitive" is that in the process of trying various charts I found one topographic kap among many that was corrupt. '...06 simply showed it,ugly as it was, where '...10 crashed.

bsbfix fixed the kap and only then '10 could start again until I could generate another crash that doesn't involve any "corruption" I can find.
