OpenCPN and Ubuntu 13.10 - Saucy Salamander

I migrated to Ubuntu 13.10 and now I get some minor dysfunctions
1- when I start O , the tool box and the chart bar are not at the right place
(see shot test-1 attached)
2 - when I toggle F11 to full screen tool bar become curious
(see shot test-2 attached)
3 - In full screen mode :
- trying to move toolbox make the system hang
- the top values of the grid are not visible
4 - after toggle several time F11 the display is OK but when I open toolbox and close it I got each time an empty line more
(see shot test-4 attached)

I get the same result if I take the official compilation from opencpn.org or compile
from last git

Does somebody tried 13.10 and has the same problem ?
thanks
Jean Pierre

Jean Pierre

I updated to 64 bits 13.10 about 2 weeks ago, and I haven't seen any problems at all.
Any difference if OpenGL is activated or not? Is your graphical driver up to date?

J-P...
I gave it a very quick look in clean install with Unity and can confirm that there are problems. But Unity itself was so incredibly slow in the virtual machine that I didn't look any further...

It could be a Unity problem. I stay clear of that contraption. I'm currently using Kde & xfce.

13.10 and unity..

I hve only seen the empty line tool bar.

I assumed I had done something...
My bigest issue is that if opencpn starts in the user account it can't set up the serial ports.
I fixed this before but can't remember.
At the moment I just sudo opencpn.

Brian...
You have to be member of the dialout group - 11.10 - How do I allow a non-default user to use serial device ttyUSB0? - Ask Ubuntu

I have found that the growth of the button bar happens after clicking Yes or Apply in the settings menu.
Opening the GPS instrument panel causes the button bar to return to its propped size.

And yes now the user is in the correct group it works fine.
