OpenCPN and IHO's ECDIS data check.

This subject deserves it's own thread.
It was started by fgd 3, and bcn have replied several times. See

I haven't seen the actual test set before, only the write up prior to the release. Thanks fgd3 for spotting the release.

I think this test is quite valuable for the development of O.
Now we know how the latest standard is supposed to work.

Re: OpenCPN and IHO's ECDIS data check.

Won't display with me: W7, 3.3.10.6, opengl on or off, database rebuild, log says OK, quilting on/off, chart position checked (see pic), another ENC set displays fine
I am at a loss...

Re: OpenCPN and IHO's ECDIS data check.

W or E are always the traps when you are being examined

Points I learnt here:

- we don't comply with the latest S-52 definitions as Thomas stated already

- and an interesting project:
Check 4 – Detection of objects by route checking in voyage planning

That's been in Tracker since 2010 (FS224--also see FS242 for a related item).

Re: OpenCPN and IHO's ECDIS data check.

IHO actually mentions two test data sets. One is shown and discussed above, the other (much more comprehensive, but older) can be found at IHO's S-64 page as Unencrypted ENC Test Data Set (4.5 MB). I think some of the checks there may be relevant.

Specifically, I turned to this test set when examining how updates to S-57 charts are handled (.001, .002...). This was the only place I could find any test data.
