OpenCPN 4.4.0 (OsX) crashes when tracking enabled

I am using OpenCPN on a Mac (El Capitan). 9 times out of ten, OpenCPN crashes (very quickly) when I enable tracking.

Since this is a very useful feature I would appreciate any input how to solve/fix this problem (if possible).

Do you see the standard Macintosh crash report screen when OCPN dies? Can you post a screenshot of the crash report?

Hi Dave,

Yes I see the Mac crash screen every time it does this. I will post this next time I take the boat out, today or tomorrow, since it does it only when there is movement.

I have located the saved crash reports. Here are the 4 last ones in a PDF document

Try to disable or even delete the Logbookkonni plugin.
For deleting this plugin go to /Applications/OpenCPN.app in Finder and open with Right-Click context menu the Contents folder. Go to Plugins folder and delete liblogbookkonni_pi.dylib to trash.

If there are no crashes anymore after disabling/deleting Logbookkonni plugin you might have had installed an old version. Try to get Logbookkonni-Plugin_1.2024.pkg

Success!

I just took the boat today and after deleting the logbook koni plugin, I had no more crashes.

By the way the plugin was the right version, not an old one.

I am not sure about the reason but I know there are some people compiling with a Hackingtosh instead with a real Mac maschine. Furthermore there are problems when programmers are using older wxWidgets libraries for Mac. Hopefully there are more programmers using a Mac in the future...
