Re: Opencpn 4.1.1108 Documentation

David,

Charts - Advanced Chart Work Charts | Official OpenCPN Homepage
has to go to its own Jump page here then you have to click on another link.to go to
--> Chart Conversion Manual | Official OpenCPN Homepage
directly now.

AND

From the Main Charts Jump Page Charts | Official OpenCPN Homepage
Advanced Chart Work - Chart Conversion ---> Chart Conversion Manual | Official OpenCPN Homepage

These both go to a different Book
Supplementary Software --> Chart Conversion Manual

Regarding the need for JUMP PAGES I have a request into Will the Webmaster to see if we can do away with these, because if I had access to the Left Menu HTML I could write the hyperlink to work directly, but we would not want the Export PHP script for the single page version have trouble (and I don't think it would, it just collects and assigns links and flatens content to one file.). So for now, we are using JUMP PAGES where necessary until Wil gets back to us.

David
Now I see --Charts; but not the page I added. I wonder if someone has a page open it can't be seen by others?

edit It's true, I had the page open in another window. Mystery solved.

Re: Opencpn 4.1.1108 Documentation

Added "Advanced Usage" under "Chart Downloader Tab"

First I copied the text into Word. Then changed font and size there. Also deleted screen shots. More simple this way.

Not sure what to do next?

Re: Opencpn 4.1.1108 Documentation

David thank you for your Editing yesterday, its getting there. I see your addition for Adv Chart Downloader. You've learned Outlines have mastered screenshots and are becoming a versatile Editor!

In looking over charts I found this strange link that covers text above and below an image Chart Files Tab | Official OpenCPN Homepage
Brazilian Charts to just before Chart Formats (different link)
I am not sure what is intended here. Can you fix it?

I am not going to update the Options > Charts screens in this section, because they have not changed and Thomas's screenshots are good and from Linux. Also it will just look better with all Linux screenshots, rather than a mix.

Did you check all the links in Charts? I am just trying to keep track of what needs doing. Thanks!

Re: Opencpn 4.1.1108 Documentation

There is a Red Warning on a number of pages.
Quote:
strict warning: Only variables should be passed by reference in /home/will/drupal-6.28/modules/book/book.module on line 559.
Results of a search using the above shows that 49 pages have this problem.

Result of search on: strict warning variables drupal line 559
This is a problem in the PHP coding for Drupal I believe, here are some solutions:

PHP strict warning: Only variables should be passed by reference in .../modules/book/book.module on line 559

https://www.drupal.org/node/2170521

So it appears not to be something we've got wrong, but code that needs updating on the website. I will write webmaster Will about it now, referring to this post.

Re: Opencpn 4.1.1108 Documentation

GoodAnchorage and Squiddio work fine.

http://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/...ml#post2013741

My Norton complained about squiddio and said it had bad reputation, but I overrode it as Norton has been doing that. I've done that before with no bad consequences, it is just Norton being overly piicky.

Re: Opencpn 4.1.1108 Documentation

Dave you must know about this Plugin Download page?

Quote:
Important note for the OpenCPN 4.1 beta users Due to the upgrade of framework libraries we use to build OpenCPN, none of the below plugins works with OpenCPN 4.1 beta on Windows and Linux, please refer to this page for the status of plugin updates, instructions and downloads. On Mac OS X, the below plugin packages should work without any problem on both OpenCPN 4.0 and OpenCPN 4.1 beta.
Goes to Plugins for OpenCPN 4.1 | Official OpenCPN Homepage
I do not know if those plugins are as current as the ones on Opencpn Beta File Thingie (have not compared the dates) but the ones on File Thingie are compiled with a version of opencpn.lib that works for the current 4.1.x I believe.

Sorry about the confusion, but it will get clearer soon.

Re: Opencpn 4.1.1108 Documentation

David, I saw that too.
I think we can delete the reference to Brazilian Charts, because that is all in Chart Downloader now and these were to get someone going with a few usable charts.

So there is no need now for that ref.
Can you remove it?

Thanks for noticing that.

Right now I am going through all the screens and menus and comparing with what is in the User Manual to make sure it is the same.

If it isn't the same, I take a snapshot
and replace the one there.
Then if there are additional items in the menu,
I add brief description to the text if appropriate.

If you notice anything like this, let me know please.

It appears that you are checking links. I have not done that since I spent almost a day doing it awhile ago. At the very end before publishing we may need to go through them all again unless you are pretty sure you've got certain sections checked (which would be great).

The other thing I need to do is start going through all the change logs although, I think we've picked up most of it, just to be sure. Hopefully I can start this tomorrow morning, as there is stuff I need to do tonight on it.

If you want to help by starting on the change logs, going from the most recent (and I'll go from the oldest) that would be great. I also found the change log is here
and Thomas left a nice description of how he uses the Change Log to correct the User Manual here You may have seen it.

I think the organization is much better and Getting Started seems to make much more sense, so we are making good progress, now its getting the details right.

Thank you David.

Re: Opencpn 4.1.1108 Documentation

David,

I am going to try to follow Thomas's designations.

Item requires a change in the documentation.
*1. Implement configurable waypoint range rings (FS#1560)

Doc change has been made.

Re: Opencpn 4.1.1108 Documentation

Now I've just pasted the rest of the Change Log into
Updating the User Manual | Official OpenCPN Homepage

So as we work on these items we can make the Changes "*" and "#".

Then everyone knows what needs doing and what has been completed.

Re: Opencpn 4.1.1108 Documentation

Rick,
I've spent at least 3 hrs going thru "Charts" making internal ref Italic and external ref Bold and checking that they work. I can't guarantee that there are no errors but I can't go thru it again. Maybe someone else will proof it. I will be glad to fix any errors. Would probably need screen shots of errors.

I'll start on the change logs tonight.
