OpenCPN 3.2.2 stops displaying wind information

I have installed OpenCPN 3.2.2 on a windows XP machine. This has USB inputs from a GPS, AutoPilot, AIS and Wind Instruments. All works OK when configuring the ports and the NMEA display shows all correct information being processed. On the dashboard I have apparent wind speed and direction as well as true wind speed and direction

If I close the configuration window the wind speeds continue to display correctly for about 1 minute. After this the updates stop appearing. I can get them to work again by opening the configuration window and displaying the NMEA data stream. It takes up to about 30 seconds to display the information again. I do not change anything in the configuration.

I have filtered the input and output of each port to receive/send only the required information, but this has no effect on the wind indications stopping working. All ports except for the AIS is running at 4800 with standard settings. The wind instruments come in as IIVWR IIMWR (the II part is correct the VWR/MWR may not be as I don't have the system in front of me at the moment). Any help appreciated.
