OpenCN and B&G

Hello,
My boat is equipped with a B&G navigation, radar, etc... and a WIFI I/F
What is the best way for connecting OpenCN to the B&G network ?
NMEA 0183 ? or other

Best regards

What is the type of the B&G H2000, H3000 or newer? The H2000 and H3000 is fastnet. The newer one nmea2000.

Ok That is the new generation. There are two options:
1 Connect opencpn direct to the plotter with special b&g nmea0183 cable
2 Use the actisense nmea2000 to nmea0183/usb interface

Re: OpenCN and B&G

Or put a Vesper AIS device on the NMEA2000 network and get AIS plus NMEA0183 over WIFI..

It doesn't do all the NMEA0183 sentences, but does the most useful ones.

Re: OpenCN and B&G

Thanks to you

In the meanwhile I got an answer from B&G :

Dear Sir ,

You can use a NMEA0183/NMEA 2000 AT10 converter that you will connect to the network

Ref AT10: 24005936
It can be provided by any B&G dealer.

Re: OpenCN and B&G

As long as the Zeus and the computer are on the same network and you don't mind having the Zeus running you don't need serial or USB ports to access the NMEA data as the Zeus provides this via TCP/IP.

Check out the "GoFree" section in your Zeus manual. It will explain how you can determine the IP address of the Zeus, and which port you can use to read NMEA0183 data.

If your computer is on the same (wired) network as the radar the Navico plugin can be used for use with the BR24/3G/4G radar. With WiFi YMMV -- it heavily depends on the bit rate chosen by the WiFi access point for multicast data.
