Old waypoints left on chart

I have been doing a lot of work on my routes and waypoints. In the bargin I have many waypoints left on the chart with route manager closed etc. Is there an easy way to clear them. Clicking on each one of several hundred is not fun.

Hi Bob,

When I create a route using the route tool in OpenCPN I do not get 'leftover' waypoints when the route is deleted.

However, for routes that I have converted into .gpx format from other programs such as MaxSea, I found that in the conversion the waypoints would be there in Route Manager when I deleted the route. I found the solution was in using the GPS Utility program when exporting the 'other' format to .gpx it is necessary to uncheck the waypoint box before converting. Now all is fine.

HTH,

Terry

I may be wrong but my understanding is that if you did not export the routes to a file/folder somewhere else then you lost them when you upgraded.

See the manual Navigation Data Backup

gpshehe...
From which version did you upgrade? There was no change in the handling of navobjects between 3.0 and 3.2 and they are not lost during a normal upgrade.
OpenCPN by default keeps 5 rotating backups of that file for you in the same place, so if navobj.xml got corrupted or lost you can recover it from the backups (Terry told you where to find it in the manual)
If you by any chance first uninstalled the previous version manually and explicitly told it to remove all the OpenCPN related stuff, then it did exactly that and I'm afraid your data is gone.
Of course keeping a backup is advisable.
