oeSENC Caribbean Collection

For all heading to the Caribbean, the new oeSENC Caribbean Collection has become online at o-charts

The main focus lays on the Lesser Antilles but you will find also other goodies. It is recommended to check the detailed coverage for your intended sailing region. For some places (BVI, Antigua, Dominica, Bermudas) you may want to add single complementary S-63 charts. The US charts for Puerto Rico and the USVI have been added for convenience. Charts with origin from SHOM and NOAA will be updated weekly, the rest quarterly.

Re: oeSENC Caribbean Collection

Anyone used these? How do they compare to Navionics and the like?

Most chart providers have an online portal where you can view the charts yourself and make an informed decision. It seems with o-charts I just need to buy on faith, hence keen to hear of some first hand experiences with this set.

Re: oeSENC Caribbean Collection

The oeSENC charts are based on official vector-charts. The lack of interest in areas of certain interest to cruisers is obvious in this chart set. For example.... no coverage of Young Island Cut in St Vincent, nor of North Sound in Antigua.

If you're thinking about the Easter Caribbean - Lesser Antilles- in particular, I recommend the newly released oeRNC set of charts from Imray instead. These raster-charts are electronic versions of the well-known Imray-Iolaire paper-charts that has been used for a long time.

As for Navionics.......I have no direct experience of their EC charts, but have seen enough of that outfit not to spend any money on their products.
