Re: Ocpn-Draw and Boundary

Hi,
I have just put up patch 512 which allows the user to get the right click menu on the boat when an EBL is active. It also allows you to move the start point, when that is not the boat, to another location.

I have put up a patch to the watchdog_pi which implements 'distance' from a boundary and will give an alarm when the distance from a boundary is less than specified. I have updated the 'time' code as well, but presently cannot test it. If you want to try this out you will need to pull my patch as well as the current watchdog_pi code.

Re: Ocpn-Draw and Boundary

Rick,
Can you put together a couple of 'screen shots' of this,or point me to the electronic version of the article. I am not quite understanding what is wanted.

The article shows a DR mark calculated by time x estimated speed with an estimated course. The argument being that rather than heading blindly to a GPS position which may be incorrect, when it would be more reilable to chart a DR position and compare to the GPS position.

I think Ocpn_Draw already has most of this tool, but just needs a little extra calculation from a couple of user entries. Perhaps call it a "DR" object which has a vector and a DR point.

Re: Ocpn-Draw and Boundary

Thinking about boundaries, exclusion and inclusion, does anyone have an idea how to represent an inclusion, i.e. stay inside, boundary, particularly if there is more than one showing at a time? The current exclusion boundary is quite obvious.

Compiled tonight.

Yes,
Right click on EBL & VRM --> "Move EBL Point"
Right click on EBL shaft --> "Pick a new Start Point"
Right click on Boat when there are EBL starting at the boat --> Normal selection: Measure, Scale in, Scale out, Drop mark, etc.
====

Jon, I will scan the article.

====
Inclusion boundary, such as
1. Stay in this circle and don't stray (anchor)
2. Stay inside this boundary, such as inside a harbor with shallows all around.

Why not have hatches or cross hatch on the outside of the exclusion line for some distance (perhaps adjustible)?

Re: Ocpn-Draw and Boundary

Rick, Jon.....
Win 10 VS2013, ocpn_draw 0.4 fetched today. (This bug was also present in previous fetch some days ago.)
A new EBL was created, pic 1, and OCPN was closed and reopened.
At the first half a second glimpse after reopening the EBL was correct and then reformed to some strange values, see pic 2 and the reformed properties.
in pic 3.
(Initial EBL properties ~1.7 NM, from 66 to 246 degr.)

But it builds fine for both release and package.

Re: Ocpn-Draw and Boundary

Håkan,
Could you please post the ODnavobj.xml file that shows this issue? I have just tried under linux and don't get the issue and my windows build environment is not working with the latest from github (seems to be wxCurl and .NET framework related).

I am wondering if it is being restored OK but a mouse click (or some such) is causing the end point to move. I know I sometimes get erroneous mouse messages in OCPN which causes a shift to somewhere that was off screen. I have not had a debugging environment recently to track down what was happening.

Re: Ocpn-Draw and Boundary

Reading back several posts to Jon's post I see that his repro of watchdog needs to be compiled too. Will be able to do that in several days.

Re: Ocpn-Draw and Boundary

Jon..
My ODnajobj.xml is attached, pls discard the ".pdf" extension.
Also a new properties box picture where the strange data are visible.

There are no manual mouse movements nor clicks during OCPN upstart, "hands off".
If I make a second O restart the EBL is even more extended and is given another angle.

As you can see I'm using Swedish local language. You're not searching in text anywhere, do you?

Anything I can do? Pls tell.

Re: Ocpn-Draw and Boundary

Håkan,
I know this is a pain, but can you start OCPN without any EBL, then create one. Stop and start OCPN. If the error occurs can you provide the ODnavob.xml, the ODnavob.xml.changes, and, if it is relevant, the ODnavobj.xml.1 . I am trying to see if there is a change written to the changes file and if the ODnavobj file has been changed by the time the error is shown. You may need to stop OCPN so that you have the original xml file and the now modified one. ( I assume you have the setting to allow multiple ODnavobj files to be created set. If not this is done via the ocpn_draw_pi preferences in the 'plugins' tab of the options dialog).

Also, just in case it is a language related issue, could you change to run in in 'English' and see if you get the same results?

Thanks
Jon

Re: Ocpn-Draw and Boundary

Jon..
No pain, not at all.
Some tests:
1. It's not language dependent, the same result using English U.S.
2. It's the same on my Win_XP, although VS2013 built.
3. I've tested with O most recent 4.1.1022 and 4.1.925 - same result.
4. I've tested O-Draw from "Merge pull request #101 from jongough/fixes" and version 511, Head = "Merge pull request #100 from jongough/fixes" and most recent - no differences.

I've collected ODnavobjects in attached txt file. (delete .pdf)
No ODnavobject.xml.1 nor ODnavobject.xml.changes ever created.

Next step would be to set up for debug??? I think I then have to copy the _pi inside my O build tree but I could try if you like? In that case -- where would I start to follow??
