Great, I'll get started and let you know when time comes. - You've done more OS than me, I've just done Windows and Linux

Re: Ocpn-Draw and Boundary

Roel,
I am thinking about your request. I think I can easily 'reverse' the EBL, i.e. give the bearing TO the start point rather than FROM the start point whilst leaving everything else the same (may be able to change the 'arrow' as well to show this). If you want the EBL pinned to another object on the screen that is moving, this will be more difficult, but I will think on it some more.

Re: Ocpn-Draw and Boundary

Does the name change from EBL in the cases where it is no longer attached to the boat and when the EBL is reversed? Taking it literally they are just Electronic Bearing Lines.

Re: Ocpn-Draw and Boundary

Rick,
When you create and EBL that is what it is no matter where the start point is.You can change the name but you cannot change the type of path.

I am thinking how to do the reverse bearing, but have not had time to really look at it. The EBL from another moving object is possible, but it would take a bit of working out how to get the location information for the start(object/boat) point. It 'may' require another change to the OCPN Plugin-API to get get the object information. At them moment I am not in a position to be able to do that sort of development.

Re: Ocpn-Draw and Boundary

Hi,
Patch 508 adds the reverse bearing to the rollover popup for EBL's. The main properties dialog in the general tab sets whether to use magnetic bearings or true. If magnetic is used then if you have the World Magnetic Model installed the variation will be used from that plugin. If not you will, currently, need to set 'UserMagVariation=0.00' in the ocpn_draw_pi section of the config file (there is no setting in the properties dialog for this yet). There is, currently, no way to get at the value set in the opencpn mainline properties that will work on all platforms. I think this may need another plugin-api change to enable this to be made available.

I have put a ubuntu linux version of this version up on github.

Re: Ocpn-Draw and Boundary

Dear Jon,

Thank you. Have compiled for Win and used #508. All functions work as far as I can determine. The inverse bearing shows up in the display. Very simple and nice.

I wonder if we could get a text wrap feature for the Text Point. I realize I am asking for what might be a cascade of requests which are essentially requiring incorporation of something like tinyxml lib which actually might not be too bad a thing to do eventually.

Have uploaded this to Opencpn Beta File Thingie rguser rgpass into 4.1.818 Win PI folder. It will work with 4.1.602 also I believe.

Attached is a screenshot. Have started documentation, just made a page so far.

Re: Ocpn-Draw and Boundary

Rick,
In this version of Text Point I kept it simple. The user decides how long the line is, where the line breaks are etc. I tried with a more complex text type, but I could not get a transparent background, i.e. you could see what was behind it, working. So instead of delaying the feature I put this stripped down one in. If there is a real need for word processing capabilities, i.e. word wrap, highlighted text, multiple fonts, etc, then I will have another look at that when I get back from the boat.

Re: Ocpn-Draw and Boundary

Jon I would only do this if others ask for it.

Re: Ocpn-Draw and Boundary

I would advocate to keep lt simple and to stop adding functions here.
First we should see how it works, test and debug the PI.

Hi,

Users should deposit their request in the Tracker/Flyspray, eventually vote for the most wanted features.

This is the only way to be sure that none of the request will be lost

Re: Ocpn-Draw and Boundary

Thanks Roel. I do not know why. I did not change opencpn.obj file but perhaps Jon set up version checking.

Re: Ocpn-Draw and Boundary

I have put a rough outline up in the docs for plugins. If anyone wants to edit or add be my guest. I am working on screenshots now.

Re: Ocpn-Draw and Boundary

Jon, While working on the documentation I got into the properties screen from two different directions and it seems like they do not refer to the same data set and only one of them is actually used. I quess I am a little confused how this could be, but it seems like it to me.
The two ways are using Drawing Manager Icon and the other is right click on an object and pick properties.
--Perhaps others will check and confirm for me.
