North up on Small Scale Charts

I feel great! Scored a surplus Datalux Tracer Police car PC on Ebay..Daylight readable touchscreen, ruggedized PC. Nice.
Even better, successfully downloaded 2.1.0 build 624a of OPCN.
Even mo' better, downloaded all the US NOAA charts (raster to start with).
And to top it off, got the BU-353 GPS working! I see my little red boat on the chart. Its ALL Good.
Now some detail issues:
1. When I zoom to the largest scale (smallest area, greatest detail), specifically on the ICW chart that shows Dragon Point in Melbourne, FL, the chart will flip its orientation around. I can not get the blue arrow on the courseup/northup icon. I do not have 'course up' checked in the toolbox. This only happens on this chart, not charts of smaller scale. The course/north up icon in the upper right corner will go blue on smaller scale charts.
What am I doing wrong?

Helmsmatt....

Welcome aboard. I've been sniffing around those surplus police car computers for a while. Let us know how the performance seems to work out. There are a lot of them available from various sources...

NOAA ICW charts are not created as "North-Up". They are drawn by the original cartographer to make them most convenient for the sailor on the waterway.

Opencpn shows them in their "natural" orientation. We don't support dynamic "north-up" rotation of skewed raster charts. Nor do we support skewed raster charts in quilts.

If you really want this feature, please add it to the Flyspray Tracker. With enough squeaking, the wheel gets greased.

OpenCPN::TrackerOpenCPN - stable: Tasklist

Thanks
Dave

Thanks Dave,
I can deal with it as long as the chart orientation doesn't go jumping around constantly.
I'll put the feature request in.
