No Route Upload with Garmin 152H

Have searched for solution here and tried all I found. Still have a problem.

Running W7 32bit and OpenCPN 2.5.0
I upload waypoints. I then have to assemble the route manually on Garmin.

Have tried every option in Garmin Transfer mode (with it enabled from toolbar!) receive route/waypoint etc and getting error code every time. I know this can work because It worked about three weeks ago. Since then I have had to re-format the notbook and somethings just not right.
I vaguely remember the com ports showing as higher numbers then, so changed com port from 3 to 10 - not a solution. We're about to leave on a shake down and I wont have internet connection until Sunday 18th. We leave for the Philippines in about a week, and I thought GPS/Open CPN working was already something I had ticked off the list!

I am missing something and it's driving me nuts.

If anyone has any time to help I'd be very grateful. In the meantime, I'll keep trying!

Re: No Route Upload with Garmin 152H

Hi Lesley
To upload routes from PC to Garmin 152 you have to :

1) Set Garmin mode in toolbox/gps as you already did
2) Set the Serial data format of your Garmin tab to "Garmin data transfer" (Com tab )
3) be sure that you have a "return" line to GPS (brown wire to pin 3 RS232)

Regards
Jean Pierre

Re: No Route Upload with Garmin 152H

Thanks for that! It's really weird because I had resigned myself to it not working, and having to upload the waypoints then 'reassemble' them into a route on the garmin. Just on a whim I changed the settings and tried again - the darned thing worked fine! I really don't know why it stopped working or why it restarted! Have to say we've just completed an epic Hong Kong to Philippines passage that took us 17 days. Open Cpn worked a dream so although everyone thinks we got lost, Hand on heart we always knew exactly where we were and were we wanted to go! We had 700 L contaminated fuel and the wind was on the nose. 45 knots. Bit hair raising but we made it in the end! Without OpenCPN and the AIS overlay I would have gone gaga. Thanks guys for such a great piece of software.
