Can't download charts on OpenCPN. Im of the hope that I could find someone to talk me thru the program on the phone.

Thank you for the reply. I have the wrench and go to charts where Iv'e gotten
1) C:\Users\Tom\Documents\ChartLocater_files
2) C:Users\Tom\Documents\OpenNauticalChart_files
Then I try the Chart Downloader by pressing the Add tab. That goes to
Predefined tab with GSHHG basemap,USA & NOAA & Inland charts. Chart Catalogs and US Pilot Charts. Now I'm stuck. What next.

Do you have chart files (.KAPs) in


1) C:\Users\Tom\Documents\ChartLocater_files
or
2) C:Users\Tom\Documents\OpenNauticalChart_files

It depends on what charts you want. Let's try one and then you can learn how it works so you can get whatever charts you really need.

1) What next? Click on the + by the characters RNC.
2) Then you will see more choices. Click the + by the characters by States.
3) Then you will see a list of states in the US. Click the state Florida.
4) Then click OK in the dialog you are in now (not the other OK further down and behind this dialog).
5) That takes you back to where you clicked Add.
6) Click the button Update.
7) Now you will see a list of charts for Florida in a list.
8) Using the right mouse button click on any of the charts. It doesn't matter which one.
9) A menu will pop up. Click on the words Select New.
10) Now click on the button Download selected charts.
11) After all the downloads finish click button OK.
12) Move the chart window to the Florida region.
12) Look at the bottom of the screen and you should see some blue ovals. Click on any of these. You should see a chart on the screen.
