No ENC text on RPI3

Hello.
I'm trying to run OCPN (4.00) on a RPI3 with Jessie.
All seems to be running but I have noticed that the ENC text is not showing.
I have tried to change the text color and font but still no show....
Anyone else had this experience? If so, is there there a solution.
Thanks
Henk

First enter "t" or tap the "T" button on the tool bar. Text is not enabled after install.

Then you might give 4.2 (or even 4.4 - the beta about to be released) a try.
Just for being up-to-date and not dealing with bugs that have been resolved.

No just "plain" English...
Never tries a different language though.

Here the settings are as follows:

Go to User interface

Language > English (US)

Fonts > click on the fonts right arrow and choose Charts text

Choose font > here Roboto Regular 12

Ok
font colour black
Ok

So it works here

You can also upgrade Jessie:

in terminal:

sudo apt-get update

then sudo apt-get upgrade

kernel can be updated with:

sudo rpi-update

You can also update to the latest OpenCPN 4.2.2 beta version. See my remarks there.

Here the Raspberry Pi 2 and 3 are working great.

Bedankt Bram,

Re: No ENC text on RPI3

In the terminal mode:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa/opencpn/opencpn

sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get install opencpn

If the first item does not work you must do
first:

sudo apt-get install software-properties-common

I thought you were Dutch because the name Henk is a typical Dutch
name.

Regards from Zeeland (SW Netherlands)

Ik ben een Nederlander, woonachtend in Canada

Thanks for the instructions. I'll try later. I had it running "perfect" on a light version of a RPI Debian however after it would not load the charts any longer I decided to re-image with Jessie...
I'm using the RPI touchscreen display with touchscreen. Very low power consumption!

Have you tried the openplotter image?
It has Opencpn ready to go plus lots more, worth a look.

Re: No ENC text on RPI3

The additions with OpenPlotter version are indeed very usefull. OpenPlotter is based on the Raspian Linux version.

I just tried the Ubuntu Linux Mate version 16.04. This works also very good with the latest OpenCPN version.

With the latest updates on Ubuntu Mate, GLXgears is running at 99 Fps.

But it is difficult to add all the software items that are added with OpenPlotter.

Re: No ENC text on RPI3

Installed the image from Openplotter and working great.
I had never heard about this project, but wow, very impressing, especially the NMEA interfacing. I will have to do some more testing / playing but I think this will be a wonderful project to work on.
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
