Night Navigation on Android tablet

I use OpenCpn on my laptop without any problems , BUT on a Android tablet using the app is problematic.
1) How to add icon for color scheme eg, night vision(navigation) The use of F6 or any keyboard shortcuts button is a problem
2) How or where(eg download APK's) to install extensions like Celestial Nav.)
Many thanks for any help

Hello Pendragon,

If you are using the paid version, the best place to ask (and get answers) is here :

Re: Night Navigation on Android tablet

There is an app called "night mode" which automatically dims the screen and puts a red filter on the screen at a set level at a time of your choice. All automatically.

Re: Night Navigation on Android tablet

for celestial navigation (or any other plugins) you would have to compile from source which even I (the author) cannot do at this time unfortunately. The android studio is stupidly not supported on arm processors!! You cannot compile android apps for an arm processor using an arm processor, and that's what I'm working with.

I don't know when (or if ever) they will be supported on android. I would like to see it happen.

The user interface on several plugins might be impossible to use under android without adaptation, at least with very small screens. Would you be willing to pay 99 cents in the app store for each plugin?

Re: Night Navigation on Android tablet

Hi,

you can also look for an app called "Screen filter". This app allows you to dim the screen from 100% to 0%.

Regards

I would! It would be great to have more plug ins under Android.

I detoxified my life of Windows years ago...hate the idea of buying a Windows machine just to run the full version of OC.

Guys,

go on the side

And push your ideas.

Few months ago, Dave was asking about plugins for the paid Androids version.

Re: Night Navigation on Android tablet

The versions that Dave is maintaining have now a real plug-in API that allows to integrate plug-ins in a "on-demand" way. Not to be compiled into the main App.
The actual OA 1.0.14 works this way.
The oeSENC plug-in is the first one of this kind of plug-ins and is available at the play store. It is free - the charts not, for obvious reasons.

Re: Night Navigation on Android tablet

Thank you to all contributors for the various suggestions. I used the suggestion that jpwales90 supplied a simple screen dimmer called night mode.apn
It works spot on ,This in conjunction with Multi_window v8 apn, gives near the same possibility as Windows ALT&TAB for switching between programs.
