Re: New Waypoint Properties Implementation

Pavel..

It was the same open.ini I downloaded at your suggestion.
I have now gone back to square one and find that even selecting Tools,either crashes OCPN, or takes 19 sec. to open.

Re: New Waypoint Properties Implementation

Tore...
I don't remember setting any chart directories, especially ones that could work on your machine, in the one I've asked you to use, but maybe I'm just wrong as usually

I'm out of ideas how to help you, sorry

Happy...

But what are all those pink track lines? My 'boat' has not moved an inch?

Re: New Waypoint Properties Implementation

Pavel..

The opencpn.ini file I returned is the same one I downloaded from you?
Don't know anything about chart directories?

"Curiouser and curiouser said Alice!"

But why does the Tool box now either crash OCPN,or takes near 20 seconds to open?

Guess I'll have to go back to the original v. 2.6 and await developments.

Thanks
Tore

[Settings]
ConfigVersionString=Version 2.6.1310 Build 2012-01-10
NavMessageShown=1
OwnshipLengthMeters=20
OwnshipBeamMeters=
OwnshipGPSOffsetY=
OwnshipGPSOffsetX=
OwnshipMinMM=20
etc....
won't help now, I guess but this is what I have in ini now.ownship mm is the one that should be important here, Tore. This is for a 1024x720 display. You will want it to be 30,40,or 50 on a high res monitor for ownship to display near "default size".

This all might have something to do with your screen resolution...likely 'way better than mine.

Ownship length is the one that makes ownship when the chart is zoomed....10,20,30 just determines when it'll start to scale.I always like a big boat ,so I made a 20 meter.

Are you absolutely sure that OpenCPN was not running when you were replacing the INI with the one I gave you?

Pavel..

Now you are asking!!! I am almost 100% sure,BUT.....

Another problem. I have just added a lot of information (URL's) to many of my previously empty,but displaying POI's. I have them all assembled under Eastern Mediterranean.gpx in the layers directory. How and where are these individual poi's saved? The original Eastern Mediterranean.gpx file is till unchanged and does NOT contain the added info. There is no way to save the updated Eastern Mediterranean.gpx

Your last question has nothing to do with Pavels new feature.
Read up on Layers in the manual!
Quote:
A layer is persistent and protected from changes. A waypoint in a gpx file for example, can be imported either as a "waypoint" or as a layer. The difference is that when imported as a layer it cannot be changed or deleted.
I your case, import your E Med.gpx through the Route Manager. Edit and export back.

Just use Layers when you are done with editing. If you need to edit an existing layer, edit a copy, export, replace original layer.

Re: New Waypoint Properties Implementation

Pavel..

Re my #68... I figured it out... VERY IMPORTANT TO REMEMBER!!

1. When adding/editing POI's to an existing group of POI's,import them into the waypoints area of the Route Manager,NOT the layers area before you start editing/adding POI's.

2. When finished with the editing/adding POI's,EXPORT all to the original group .gpx file and place it in the layers area,where the .ini file is located.

If you are editing/adding POI's from the layers area,they are NOT saved.
Just spent 2 hours adding URL's only to have to do it all over again.

We have one other problem... when editing an existing POI file and adding a URL,the description name alters the WPT name to the description name. The description is Weather,Photos,Tides etc.,the WPT name is ALWAYS the same.

Note.. It works if,after adding the description name and you are back in the main Marks/WPT box,enter the waypoint name at the top once more and exit.

Re: New Waypoint Properties Implementation

Good morning
We have a new build to reduce the possible confusion with WPTs being part of a layer. In such case, the dialog now becomes read-only and displays an information on the top. Exe as usually at http://opencpn.xtr.cz/opencpn.exe

Tore...
I can't reproduce your problem with the links changing the name of a WPT...

Back to the ownship sizing fiasco of last night: I'm 100% sure you actually did not use my ini file at all...
The first thing that makes me sure (there are many others, but this is very obvious) is that on the screenshot you sent, your position was still the place where you parked your car in Brazil, with disconnected GPS. If you started OpenCPN with my INI under these conditions, the first thing to happen would be your boat icon moving to 37.2431, -13.7578 - half way between Gib and Azores - This, the charts and that the INI you posted back still says your boat is in the Atlantic where I placed it is how I know, not just think, that you have not done it right...
Please try another time and try to find the right place to place the ini - it's on the About page in the help.

Re: New Waypoint Properties Implementation

Pavel..

Remember we are not all computer buffins,and it's easy to forget whether your POI display is originated from layers or WPT area. Thanks.

Yes of course it's possible OCPN was sitting there minimized while I changed the .ini file. I will try again.

The name change from the Description to the WPT area happens consistently EVERY time,when you are adding URL's to EXISTING waypoints. If you start from scratch entering the WPT name first,perhaps this does not happen. I will check it out.

I wish other Vista users would test this out,I can not be the only one.

Pavel..

Of course,you were right..NOW it's working.. but I have yet to find out how to display MY icons in the required size. Or,does it mean you can no longer use icons from the UserIcons directory for representation of your vehicle?
