Re: new watchman plugin

Hakan, would you test the sound alarms to see if they work in Windows?
In MSVC I am getting an immediate "memory fault error at a certain location" whenever I try to Debug Opencpn, it freezes immediately and the mem fault comes up. Pavel traced it to the Watchman plugin trying to read a sound file that may not exist, however I believe it does exist at
SoundFilepath=C:\\Program Files (x86)\\OpenCPN\\sounds\\1bells.wav

-This path may be specific to my Opencpn... but it is causing this error in MSVC Debug so I cannot run Opencpn in debug mode. When I remove watchman.dll MSVC Debug of Opencpn works.

...So do sounds work with this plugiin in Windows?

Try this fix for the sound problem. It does not seem related, but it worked.

Code:
diff --git a/src/watchman_pi.h b/src/watchman_pi.h

Re: new watchman plugin

Beta Plugins have been Updated
See Plugins Threads (List) Post #38

This plugin has been updated, but since doing that, the problems with the sound card appear to be worse. When enabled in the release normal opencpn version, the program now shuts down with a message, and turns off watchman. When opencpn is opened again, watchman is turned off, which is good because otherwise the entire program would hang and users would have to edit the opencpn.ini file to set Watchman enable=0! This plugin needs some work to be useable in Windows. I have even implemented Chuck's suggestion, but it did not help with this version.

So why upload it? Perhaps someone will be kind enough to verify my experience!

Sorry Hakan, we'll have to hope there is a revised update.

Re: new watchman plugin

It think it could be a god idea if it is possible to setup the alarm sound, so that it begins rather silent so that the crew not on watch can sleep. The intensity of the alarm should increase after a while if the crew on watch do not push the button. This will wake the rest of the crew.

Re: new watchman plugin

I should make it clear in Post #35 above that I was referring to the Windows DLL version of the plugin. Please be my guest and try it, it would be nice if it could be fixed. The Linux version runs well from my limited experience.

Watchman_pi Linux version is here:
git clone git://github.com/seandepagnier/watchman_pi.git

I like Lars idea.

Rick..(&Sean)
Long time no wifi. I've tried the watchman_win32_pi110_v03_pi.dll with regards to playing the sound on time out and it worked fine. Also the time counting ticks. Any other functions not checked yet.

Re: new watchman plugin

I played with watchman_win32_pi110_v03_pi.dll plugin with VDR data from my last sail trip and it is working fine. Landfall Alarm, DeadMan Alarm and MNEA Data Alarm work with sound on windows without any problem. Nice work.

Re: new watchman plugin

I think that the parameter "not ticket on" should not be visible on the main screen. There is no reason why should know the distance to my latest anchorage all the way to the Bahamas from the Canaries

This is an excellent suggestion, however there is currently no means to adjust volume. The only way I can think of is to execute a command, and specify volume there.. but a few changes are needed.

Yes of course. I think if the alarm is not enabled maybe its statistics should not appear either.

Perhaps you use could use several sound files to vary the intensity/urgency of the alarm?
