C-MAP
You don't get it either do you?

How exactly is C-Map going to help?

They don't chart the whole planet and certainly not accurately or at the required resolution in many places. I have C-MAP charts in Maxsea but it is not as versatile as OCPN and I certainly can't make my own charts with draw up my own surveys.

I really appreciate your effort here.

I tested all your icons. My aim is that we should have the icons position correct to within 1 pixel. Too see this I use Gimp and enlarge the pictures x 800.

The Lateral buoys were all to far North by about 3 pixels.
The Marks-Cardinal-East.svg needs minor adjustments in both directions.

The other 11 icons are good!

There are actually two IALA markers missing in OpenCPNs collection: "Safe Water Marks" and "New Dangers". It would be good to have these marks as well, especially the Safe Water Mark.

Thanks
Thomas

Re: New Standard Waypoint Icons For OpenCPN - Input Requested

If I tell you the truth, this is the first time I've used inkscape. So forgive my clumsiness. I hope that step by step we get the right icons.

I have added other icons that in my opinion should also be adjusted to click exactly in the center of the coordinates of the marks with their tips. Also a different icon for shipwrecks and a new one for paid anchoring.

By the way, I don't have any mark called new dangers or anything similar.

What I have, I have downloaded from the opencpn git repository.

pinguino

Good idea to correct those pin-shaped Icons as well.

I don't like the Marks-Buoy-Safe-Water.svg. It's round and a tangent to the lowest point sits on 32px. The shape is non standard (for IALA marks), and if it should be used the 32x32 px should be in the center of the circle. Altogether it's better if we skip that particular Icon, to avoid confusion.

Marks-Cardinal-East.svg still needs adjustment. The baseline is at 34 px and the center is also 2 px out.

The rest is quite good.

Don't worry about "New Dangers". "bcn" has submitted an Icon.

My idea is to get something together soon-ish and try to get it into the first beta release for OpenCPN 5.0 for wider testing.

Do we need more Icons? Anything else that needs adjustments?

Pinguino..

one additional observation:
the svgs from your set have a 68x68px transparent rectangle as base.
I corrected this to 64x64, plus moving the rectangle to the "page origin" at 0/0 x/y . Then working with Inkscape the baseline of the icons with 33px in y are looking quite fine - we should check this over more systems though.

Pinguino,

attached the IALA part of your set normalized to 64x64 and centered reference point.
Please double-check!

It is strange what you comment since the icons that I use are directly the ones that I download from git.

And indeed the system tells me that they are 64x64:

But when I open them with inkscape he puts them on a 68x68 canvas.

So the truth is, I don't know exactly what's going on. But I would say that the ones you have put are already correctly aligned... Don't you?

Re: New Standard Waypoint Icons For OpenCPN - Input Requested

There are now new improved icons in the git repository for testing.
To test, either compile yourself or wait until the release of the first beta version.
Thanks to pinguino and bcn for your efforts.
