You can (from easier to harder):
- Look into the logfile where the reason for the plugin not being loaded is published (and you will find out whether it was found at all and where OpenCPN looked for it)
- Publish your code so someone can have a look at it
- Step through the code to see where it fails

BTW, the demo_pi code is unmaintained and I'm definitely not sure it is still OK. You should have a look at the code of some real plugins. Nowadays, https://github.com/nohal/launcher_pi is probably the smallest to start with.

Downloaded plugin for viewing Canadian charts, but it would not load. Said file (BSB4 v1.2, released 2012-03-29) was corrupted. Tried twice. Using Firefox on Windows 7. Suggestions are appreciated. Thanks.

What said the file was corrupted? Didn't you try to open it instead of saving it to disk a copying to OpenCPN's plugin folder?

I did not know how to open a dll file. However, found that I could save it in a OpenCPN plugin sub-directory and get the Options Plugin routine to accept the plugin. That enabled viewing the charts.
Problem fixed.
