Sean...

The original opencpn.org used cookies as well. It just didn't tell you.
Modern best practices for transparency suggest that the site always tell the user that cookies are in use, at least once. This gives the user a chance to disable cookies for this site (or globally) in their browser, if they want to.

We use cookies to retain state in the Flyspray tracker and the Dokuwiki books.

Re: New opencpn.org Website

Hi Dave,

I'm updating the Watchdog plugin Manual. In the section about "Landfall Alarm" I had a link to the Gshhs High Resolution Coastline file. It was http://opencpn.org/ocpn/downloads/data/GshhsHiRes.zip.

I can't find those data on the new website. Are the HiRes coastlines now "standard" in OpenCPN?

Re: New opencpn.org Website

Is it possible to add a site search function?

It is a bit of a challenging situation now with the Google index still referencing pages that come up as 404 on the new site.

No unfortunately that is not the one I was after. The One I was after is newer. I've downloaded and installed the Open plotter version of NOOB for RPi. All works fine. I'm looking for the remaining instructions on how to setup the RPi as a WiFi transmitter (AP router) so as to broadcast the NMEA data over Wifi. There used to be instructions for this before the web upgrade of the forum.

Oh well I will continue to search.
Cheers and thanks for your help

Getting closer.

But unfortunately that link only has the details on the OpenCPN version for the RPi (which I have installed). There were instructions on configuring the RPi to transmit NMEA data via WiFi.

Oh well I will continue to search.
Cheers and thanks for your help

Re: New opencpn.org Website

Hm, you have not seen the forest yet due to all the trees

Open openplotter and check the different tabs in the menu and you will find what you are looking for.

Ok, now they are here : https://opencpn.org/wiki/dokuwiki/do...ed_packaging&s

Hum .... regarding gshhsHiRes, it is not a good idea to have placed this in this page. WatchDog users need to install them. Not practical to find.

Mike proposed a small plugin to install them automatically. But this little plugin has not been integrated (or not yet) on the page plugins ... Too bad.

The Dokuwiki User Manual has a search function. Look on the top line that begins with "OpenCPN Books", ends with "Register" and "Log in" buttons, and has a pale blue background. Just to the right of the "Register" button is the search field.

Thanks that is great. That solves part of the issue and will reduce my work on attempting to get data into the device.

The key issue now is how to get the Raspberry Pi to create a WiFi network. I can get it to join a network but can't work out how to get it to be the WiFi network so I can connect tablets etc to it. Any thoughts?

Also I notice that with the CPN RPi version the hostapd.conf file is overwritten at each boot. I'm guessing that this is likely the issue.

Cheers

Hello Gille,

I have just updated that part of the Watchdog Manual. Have a look here...
https://www.opencpn.org/wiki/dokuwik...landfall_alarm

(A more substantial overhaul of the manual, especially the part about Boundary Alarms, will follow soon, I am working on it in Beta).

Best regards,
Roel
