Re: Navico radar plugin v2.0 released

Baikal,

I guess that depends heavily onto the operating system beeing used.
On a Mac the separat br24radar window can easily switched to fullscreen and back using the window button (see red circle).

Re: Navico radar plugin v2.0 released

I am still nor clear on the PPA to set up in order to get the latest Linux version of the plugin. I tried to get the source code yesterday, but the repository did not respond.

I downloaded the packaged version, but when trying to install, the system told me that a newer version was already on the system - although I had uninstalled the plugin and deleted all BR24* files.

We are out on the boat with only occasional Internet access, so will try off and on.

Cheers, ....Erik.

Re: Navico radar plugin v2.0 released

I managed to get git to respond and compiled the source. However, when I go to install the compiled image, it still reports that a later version is already installed. What should I do?

Cheers, ....Erik.

Re: Navico radar plugin v2.0 released

Erik,

Code:
dpkg -l | grep br24
will list packages and then

Code:
apt remove <package>
will remove the old package.

The 2.0 code is in both PPAs.

Re: Navico radar plugin v2.0 released

Hi Merrimac,

Thanks for the reply. I will try those commands while underway.

Could you please specify the PPAs? I have the OpenCPN PPA set up and I am not getting the update.

We're off into the wilderness this morning.

Cheers, ....Erik.

It really is in the OpenCPN PPA. The package name is opencpn-plugin-br24radar.

Are you sure you ran apt update?

Here is me re-installing the plugin from the PPA after checking the content of the PPA sources.list file:

Code:

Re: Navico radar plugin v2.0 released

ve7ml...
Just to be sure, what is your Ubuntu version? Bear on mind that the non-LTS releases reach the end of life quickly and we can't build new packages for them in the PPA anymore. The currently supported Ubuntu editions, which have BR24radar_pi 2.0 packages available are: Precise (12.04), Trusty (14.04), Vivid (15.04), Wily (15.10), Xenial (16.04), Yakkety (16.10 beta)
If you have anything else, I'm sorry, next time better use a LTS release.

Re: Navico radar plugin v2.0 released

This plugin is close to new release.
If you're a translator a new source (POT) file is now loaded to Crowdin.
Thanks

Dutch translation now done. Some of these terms are really difficult to decide. Most dutch folks don't like translating technical terms but I think those folks are more likely to stick to English for OpenCPN, so I've decided to go for "echo" for "target" and "echospoor" for "target trail". BTW most "core" OpenCPN dutch translations are a bit off anyway, as well as lots of BR24 translations, as officially we need to string words together. German is famous for this, but how about the following longest word in the official Dutch word list:

aansprakelijkheidswaardevaststellingsveranderingen

(liability damage settlement changes, or something like that.)

Re: Navico radar plugin v2.0 released

did you ever get to trying with texturmapping instead of triangles or a shader?

This might uses less cpu or gpu than anything else with great results. The texture is the same as the shader implementation, but instead of using a fragment shader, there is instead a pi of say 1024 triangles with center point at the boat. These triangles don't change, so they could be uploaded to a vbo. They have texture coordinates for the correct location in the texture.

I could be wrong but I think this is going to be much faster than the current implementation with triangles, but unfortunately I have no radar.

Downloaded latest source code from github. Put opencpn.lib under build-win32 directory. Got 125 linker errors.

Re: Navico radar plugin v2.0 released

When I get an error during compiling, I read the error text and then I fix it according the text.

It's very easy in the new setup to add a new drawing method (add a subclass off RadarDraw), but I am absolutely not well versed in OpenGL, so could you do this? You can run the emulator (which just draws some fixed segments) and replay some data files from other users (we'll upload some more soon) so not having a radar wouldn't be an issue for development of this particular feature. (If you are developing controls it's handy if the radar actually reacts, I must admit.)

That said, I don't even notice the CPU load so I don't think it's an issue anymore. We even increased the default drawing rate so it shows updates more in a "sweeping" style.

Yes, it compiles here like a charm.
But without knowing any error text you get nobody is able to help you.
