N2k Data And OpenCPN

Sorry guys if this has been asked here before, but after an hour of searching this forum, I just couldn't find the definitive answer I was looking for. Here are the "givens" in my situation:

I have Furuno N2k sensors wired into a Furuno #FI5002 Junction box, which also has two NMEA2000 backbone ports. From this junction box, sensor data is then sent to a few Furuno FI50 displays in my cockpit. This junction box is located near my nav station.

My Question:
Quite simply, how can I input sensor data from my Furuno N2k sensors into my OpenCPN equipped laptop (with USB ports), specifically GPS data? Can I tap into the junction box? Do I need some type of adapter cable or gateway?

Regards,

Rob

Rob...
At this time OpenCPN understands just NMEA0183 which as you sure know is a completely different beast. You need to convert the N2K data to NMEA0183 on your own with a NGW-1 or something similar.

Re: N2k Data And OpenCPN

Thanks for your reply, Pavel.

So, in looking at the different NGW-1's available from Actisense HERE, is the NGW-1-USB the animal I need?

Regards,

Rob
