mbtiles shows nothing but a box

I've created a simple GeoJSON

I then converted that to a mbtiles.
Unfortunately no matter how I zoom I only see the boundary of the map.

I am not sure this is a bug in OpenCPN or whether the mbtiles is invalid.
Are vector tiles supported?

Any idea how to debug this?

Here is this mbtiles file https://we.tl/t-VxJoolDVJk

Re: mbtiles shows nothing but a box

Quick update: The mbtiles files opens fine in MapTiler. So I assume it's either a bug in OpenCPN or it just does not support vector tiles yet?

Just tried your file, doesn't work here either, and mbtiles from sasplanet work fine so something up with the file by the looks of it..

How did you get the file?

Re: mbtiles shows nothing but a box

I created the GeoJSON and converted that with tippecanoe to mbtiles.

Well, I am quite sure the mbtiles from SasPlanet are no vector tiles. That might be a whole different story. Doesn't it use PNG raster tiles? Do you mind sharing a (small) file from SasPlanet to compare?

The mbtiles file surely isn't completely wrong. MapTiler displays it correctly.
I somehow fear that there might be no vector support for mbtiles in OpenCPN yet. I could not find anything about it in the manual or elsewhere yet.

Thanks for the help.

Ah, sorry, had a blind moment and just didn't see the word 'vector', doh!
Suspect you're right though, the sasplanet output is raster. Still a useful source though if it's charts or sat images you're after. It will support several layers of detail so useful.

No, not supported.
"vector" is quite generic - objects, attributes, layers, presentation have to be defined....
In case of raster one will see png or jpg as format of the content of tiles. Standards.
What works in OCPN.

Not sure I can follow the comment on "vector" 🤔

But if it's not supported that's the good enough of information for now.
Thanks for that!

This is a limit on the number of tiles. If you make the territory smaller, then the borders of the polygonal coverage will not be rectangular. See source mbtiles

If I understand you correctly you missed me saying: "Unfortunately, no matter how I zoom I only see the boundary of the map.".

What do you mean by "see source mbtiles"?
