Losing GPS position.

Hello, i have some problem losing my position in opencpn.

I have a Truheading Gps/Ais that have been connected to an old computer through a serial9 connection. Now the old computer has broken and I have got a new computer and connected the GPS with an adapter to an USB-port instead.*

First two days it worked perfect, but now it only works around a half day and then it loose GPS. But after restarting the computer it works again for half a day.

I have contacted Truheading and they thought some memory from the USB is getting full and therefore losing the GPS.

I have also been in contact with support on Asus but they had now idea of how to fix the problem.

Is this anything youve heard of earlier, and/or do you have any idea of any solution?

Re: Losing GPS position.

What else are you running on it? Disable all other apps and see if that helps.

Sounds like a memory leak.

Re: Losing GPS position.

You have not given us enough information to help. OS, Opencpn Version, Computer information, also a log file is needed. See the manual for how to get a log file.

How have you connected the GPS? We need the Options > Connection details too.
Look that up in the manual too please. The "Getting Started" Section has information about getting the GPS working.

Thanks.

Re: Losing GPS position.

I use the latest version, OpenCpn 4.6.1
When i loose the GPS, i can gonto settings/connections, and change the priority from "1" to "2" and then to "1" again and so the position comes back again, but then often temporary.
I have also tried with two different serial-usb adapters, this one i use now works better, but still drop the position after 1-2 days.

Re: Losing GPS position.

I suggest attaching the Log file to this thread. Try looking at it for any messages about the GPS.
