Re: Logbook Konni for OpenCPN

Hello,

LogbookKonni Version 0.906 is ready for download.

Heading will now automatically included, select (T) or (M) in prefs.

Language-Pack (by now german only) is included. Don't unzip it !
It's installed with the layouts in prefs. The layouts now have a prefix -en=english, de=german.
In one of the next versions you are able to filter them by the prefix.

You can use Maintenance now. follow this little example:

Click Maintenance/Service and add a line.
Fill in "Service TODO" what ever you like.
set in "Urgentvalue" 2
set "Active" to yes
------------------------
now click on the "Logbook"-Tab an add a line
fill in the column "Distance" 1 sm the border apears yellow as warning color
fill in the column "Distance" 2 sm the border apears red as urgent color

the gui (comboboxes) is not very user-friendly by now, i fix that in the later versions.

'til then

Don't worry, i have to thank you for yout help.

if other users want to translate, it's easy.
  1. download and install Poedit
  2. download po_files_for_translators_X_XXX.zip (X_XXX) = version
    unzip the file
  3. doubleclick on (for example) de.po
  4. in poedit select file/saveas, insert a name with .po extention
  5. now translate
  6. save
Test it:
  1. open win-explorer, goto folder where your .po file has saved before
  2. rename the file with extension .mo to "opencpn-logbookkonni_pi.mo"
  3. open second win-explorer
  4. goto C:\Programme\OpenCPN\share\locale\xx\LC_MESSAGES (on XP)
    xx = your language
  5. drag and drop "opencpn-logbookkonni_pi.mo" here
  6. start opencpn, select the plugin
send your .po file to konnibe@hotmail.de.

Logbook Konni for OpenCPN : French translation

Hello,

First : Join here my actual french version of .po and .mo.

Second : When I go in OpenCPN/Toolbox/Plugin/LogbookKonni/Préférences, I have the window that you can see here (screen copy).

There is some problems :

a) At the top, on the right, you can see that "Automatic line by timer ..." is in English. But I have translated this item.

b) There is only an item "True". It is used twice. One in "Direction" and second in "Cap". But "Direction" is a "a feminine word" and "Cap" is a "a masculine word". So, in french "Bearing True is translated "Cap vrai and Direction true is translated "Direction vraie".

c) The item "Kts" is used twice. One in "Vitesse" (on the rigth) and second in "Vent : Vitesse (GPS off)" (on the center ). You can see that in one, it is not translate (but in the second it is translate.

Best regards

Re: Logbook Konni for OpenCPN

hello,

This is a first translation of the .po file.

There are some items that I will have to re-translate because their translations are tricky.

There are also items like LOA LOD LWL, BEAM, GRT, NRT, which are not replaceable by equivalents in French and will remain imcompréhensibles for French-speaking users of your plugin.
And this problem is certainly not only French. I am shure that the problem is same in other languages.

Best regards

Gilletarom.

i have'nt thought about that.
what do you think is best ?
give more room for text or give a onmouseover-event with a tooltip

I personally think that using longer texts take up too much space. Consider that many of us use PCs with small screens.

So the idea of using tool tips is a good idea.

This is an issue that has been discussed in relation with AIS as well. In most cases it is probably preferable to stay with the English acronyms.

In the case of Spanish there are equivalents but I decided to stay with the original ones at the moment . Exception "Beam" that is "manga" - I wonder that there is no french expression for it.

BTW there is an entry with sm (for seamiles I suppose) and my feeling is that nautical miles or NM would be more appropriate.

And the Spanish version is not tested against the program yet! So fitting texts is tbd.

Hubert
There was so much debate on Cruisers forum I do not know what was said about the AIS.

Having translated into French the OpenCPN file language, I know that there are few acronyms in my translation, and this allows less experienced sailors to understand easily. This is true also for items of AIS

Here, it's downright incomprehensible without special help. Therefore, I immediately subscribed to the idea of Konni insert tooltip for items difficult to understand.

Best regards

Thanks for the update!

One issue I am seeing. When I do "Add Line", the time field is getting filled in with an odd time, not sure what it is.

In prefs I have Local selected, and -4 for the UTC offset.

The computers clock shows 11:42AM.

When I add a new line, it enters 1:42:00AM.

Hopefully you can reproduce, and if you want me to try/test anything, please let me know!

When I switch to UTC, the time is correct UTC time, but when I return to Local, it does not seem correct.

Mark

Hello Mark,

i've send you a mail to your blog-adress with lastest work on 0.907.
I've implemented now a timer for the nmea sentences, so now the date/time and some other fields setted to nothing after a timeout of 5 sec.
i hope this will fix the problem with the time.
i can't reproduce the bug you explained before.

i set also set the depth to "-----" when the checksum of the NMEA-sentence in invalid.

best regards
