Re: Logbook Konni for OpenCPN

Tested export of Logbook Konni new version and can export csv, ods, xml and kml
This is much better. On top of that I exprot KML and Google Earth is brought up and I can zoom into the Merkemeer and see the Harmut routing! Pretty nice.

I cannot seem to be able to get it to save .TXT and .HTML yet. I don't think it is working.

However I did get a message that I don't have layouts setup, but that does not sound right to me.

How would one Import these files? Is there some technique for this?
Do I delete the logbook.txt file and copy another logbook.txt into the same location? Perhaps users might like to have a little better way of doing this? I don't know this, but I am guessing that users might want to import old daily files so they can run them in Polar to get a better an more complete polar file?

I don't know if there are any ways to filter and improve the reading of log files and filter output to make better new Polars, but users need to test and use these tools and come up with suggestions.

Thank for all the great improvements!

As normally ALL old logbook files will be saved as until_"Date"_"Time"_logbook.txt in the plugin data directory to be able to be
selected through the "Select Logbook" button I don't see the need for importing logbook files other than testing purposes.
In that case select "New Logbook" which will save the current logbook and create a new empty logbook.
Now you can copy the requested test logbook.txt file over the new (empty) logbook.txt file.

Also the polar plugin will automatically go through ALL logbook files, so the active logbook.txt AND all the until* files.
You don't have to select a specific logbook file for the polar plugin.

Re: Logbook Konni for OpenCPN

Just double checked Folder "3.2.2 PI Win" and I found the logbook file there. Try it again, please. Merci.

Re: Logbook Konni for OpenCPN

Hi,
I recently tried the logbook for the first time. I like a lot of features.
One thing particularly annoyed me. I'm sure it has to do with my ignorance with this plugin.
During a trip I started the logbook; every 5 minute the logbook kept popping up on the screen, forcing me to close it, because I couldn' t see the navigation screen.
How can I prevent the logbook from popping up?

If you go to the preferences/plugins/preferences page for logbook and
select the behavior tab, you will see a button "Popup logbook on event"
near the bottom of the page. Deselect this and you will not see the popup
of the logbook.

Peter
I should have found that out by myself.
Thanks anyway.

Re: Logbook Konni for OpenCPN

Hi there,

I am running the latest version: logbookkonni_pi-1.2016-ov3.2.2-f-ptup-win32.
Win8.1, 64

I have been using earlier versions for some years and saved some logbooks before, however today I run into some problems:
  1. started the logbook and there was only one engine (I have two), went into settings, enabled 2 engines, gone back in the logbook and all my previously recorded engine 2 data is lost, same for generator and watermaker, all data lost. I re-entered the actual hours, but of course it is only in the last line.
  2. I cannot 'view' or 'export' you can see the error I get below.
  3. It cannot choose any 'layout', that seems to be the problem with view and export.

Any fixes??

Stefano,

Unfortunately I don't have a real Windows machine to test, only a virtual machine.
Could you give the contents of directory
C:\users\Public\Application Data\opencpn\plugins\logbook\data
after your update?
Did it contain the HTMLLayouts and ODTLayouts directories with contents?
I thought the layouts were build together in this new build.
Are all your old until*logbooks also gone?

Peter.

Hi Peter,

that directory does not exist in my Win 8.1 laptop.

I did find the "HTMLLayouts" directory under 'C:\ProgramData\opencpn\plugins\logbook\data', see screen shot.

The second screenshot shows the saved logbooks, however, they do not contain my 'engine 2' hours, nor 'generator' or 'watermaker' hours, they were all reset to 0
