Logbook connie - How to Install on Ubuntu?

I am looking but darn it, I can't find a way to install plugins on CPN. Actually not quite true as apparently I have installed two plugins but logbook connie has eluded me.
I am trying to install it on Ubuntu 12.10 64 bit. I downloaded all the files (and extracted them in the wrong subdirectory but that's another annoyance) and can't find a file to run for the install.
A little help would be appreciated

Re: Logbook connie - how to install on Ubuntu ?

After much searching and grumbling I found out what file to move where to get the plugins for logbook konnie and FindIt installed. Unfortunately I have not found any instructions on how to use some of the features. There are layout files included for example and I have no idea where they should be located so that I can load them.
Lots of frustrations which could be resolved with a simple ReadMe.txt file in the download section for the individual plugin

Re: Logbook connie - How to Install on Ubuntu?

Jd1...
From the README of the logbook_konni (linked from the plugin download page):
Code:
Install Layouts (Linux only)
----------------------------
they are nessesary to display data e.g. in a browser
start opencpn
select in the toolbar Options/Plugins and enable the plugin.
click the peferences-button
in the dialog click "Install" below the label "Install Layouts"
in the filedialog select in the directory '<OPENCPN_SOURCE_TLD>/plugins/LogbookKonni_pi' the file 'OpenCPN_Logbook_Layouts.zip'
I will try to make it more prominent next time editing the plugin downloads...

Re: Logbook connie - How to Install on Ubuntu?

Thanks !
I had not seen that page (and the ReadMe file)
I went to PlugIns | Official OpenCPN Homepage which seems to be the official opencpn download page for plugins and the ReadMe file doesn't exist there nor is there a link to the page you quoted.
Ahhhh ... found the link in the 'Source code' section which is about the only section I didn't explore since I don't know enough to build from source
If you have access to the plugins page, maybe you can add a readme file which has that info as well as where to stick the downloaded files. I think that would be a great help for those of us using the pre-built files.
