Linux&touchscreen unresponsive toolbar

I own two different touch screen devices both of them running Ubuntu.

In the two cases, OpenCpn 4.4 toolbar its absolutely unresponsive to the touchscreen. The only results by touching some button is a light blue shadow like hover under the mouse pointer.

But... if I change the X session by the wayland session the behavior of the toolbar under touchscreen seems OK.

Another curiosity... after the install of the plugin opencpn-plugins-draw.... the toolbar button related to that plugin is the only responsive to the touch screen while all the other are absolutely unresponsive.

We are talking about two different touch screen devices (Asus transformer T100HA, Toshiba satellite L10W-B-101) and two different versions of Ubuntu (16.04.1, 17.04) but same behavior.

Any experience or suggestion? I am the only person in the OpenCpn world using touch screen under Linux?

No, your not the only one. But here it works without any problems.
I'm running mint-17.3, more or less the same as Ubuntu.
As things are fine using wayland, I guess that there is a problem in the X configuration.

But sadly Mint 17.3 is based in Ubuntu 14.04. Until Ubuntu 14.04 all buttons on the toolbar was working as expected, but after Ubuntu 14.10 some things are changing.

If you move sometimes to Mint 18.xx (based in Ubuntu 16.04) you could tell to me if it happens to you too.

Yes, yes.... I know. I could go back to Ubuntu 14.04 but there are a few of new things in Gnome-shell 3.18 and up, which I don't want to lose.

But the mystery is... why the buttons of the plugin opencpn-draw-plugin are working ok while the rest of the toolbar NOT???

The buttons for the plugins are handeld slightly different then the one's standard available. As an example you can't hide a plugin button by right clicking the toolbar.
Likely somewhere deep inside wxwidgets is a bug or uncompatable with ubuntu >16.04
