KAP files causing GPS to drop out.

Weird one that has only started happening since last update, not that I am suggesting this is the actual cause.

I am running this on a Compaq presario laptop runing Linux mint and using a ublox USB GPS.

I can run ocpn all day without a problem if using cm93 charts but when I go into an area with kap overlay and activate the overlay, sometimes, not always, the ship icon greys out and I lose GPS.

When I click back on charts, deactivating the kap overlay, the ship icon turns red and all is good again.

Anyone come across something like this before?

Not seen it but check in settings display advanced and check that OpenGL and the texture cache feature are turned on.

Might be an overload problem. The tips of Transmitterdan could already help, and otherwise check the position update inteval of your GPS block. Sometimes it is up to 10 times per seconde, and that gives O a lot of extra work.

Thanks for that.
Neither of those were activated, they are now and at anchor it seems all good but will need to wait until next underway to make full assessment.
I'll report back in a few days time.

Several hours with it running flicking between KAP and charts and all good.
Panning across the screen speed has increased dramatically as well so thank you thank you
