Dear Mario,

there is a fantastic manual where you will find a chapter called:
https://opencpn.org/wiki/dokuwiki/do...:chart_formats

Re: kap files

Kap files are created at certain scales. When yo zoom in or out too far the Kap will disappear.

A screenshot perhaps? What type of charts are you using (origin)? Home-brew?
Can you attach one?
Version of OpenCPN and system you are on?

Re: kap files

Also how are you creating these Kap files?
Try attaching one here by adding .pdf to the end of it.

No, you don't need the BSB files. Just the kaps.

' Likely something wrong with them....
as said in above post, find a smallish one from your collection and "attach" it with a different "extension" ie: " .pdf", ".doc" etc. that will allow a large enough size in kb or mb. Someone here might be able to identify the problem.

Mario...

The chart is damaged, likely by someone editing the header and not knowing exactly what it means. It is trivial to fix using the bsbfix tool, which you can get from https://opencpn.org/wiki/dokuwiki/do...anual:libbsb&s[]=bsbfix

It's exactly the same problem and the same fix as in this thread http://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/...ghlight=bsbfix

Editing a kap file and failure to run "bsbfix" afterwards.

Re: kap files

This is a command line tool, forget about the mouse. To fix the chart you posted, you
- Place the exe file to the directory with your charts
- Open the Windows command prompt (https://www.lifewire.com/how-to-open...prompt-2618089), get to the directory with the charts with something like
Code:
cd "c:\My charts"
- and run
Code:
bsbfix.exe PAN071.kap

With W10, using WindowsPowerShell that comes standard with it, you have to use the Unix-like command
Code:
.\bsbfix.exe PAN071.kap
