Re: Installation problems with Ethernet using Navico Radar and OpenCPN in Ubuntu

Can any of you tell me if the 4G should be spinning or making sounds if power and ground are applied? My OpenCPN setup does not work but I suspect the radar itself is DOA. I am using pretty much the same setup as being discussed here - The Rl10, 4G and direct to the computer. OpenCPN sees the radar - DHCP passed it 192.168.20.137 - put tells me radar is not on. Red & Yellow wires are energized with 13.V and 3amps.

Or - does OpenCPN pass instructions to the 4G to activate?

Thank you!

If this is of concern - my switch that I am now using is only showing half duplex communication.

The radome will only start spinning when it receives a Transmit command from the plug-in.

Thank you - then something must be wrong on the cable of network interface side. I see the computer is connecting only at half duple to the radar, perhaps my cable is incorrect? I wired as suggested in the documentation.

T568B with the four wires is correct for the simrad 4G? Many thanks,

I got it - OsX chose to remove the /dev/tty.usbmodem that my GPS was using. So no GPS, no radar. Problem solved.
