Import scanned jpeg charts

I've tried to do this http://opencpn.org/ocpn/chart_conversion_linux But I failed miserably and it would be a proper pain in the butt when you've got something like 60 pages or so.. So is there a feature planned to more easily import jpeg charts, and even aerial photographs? Wouldn't it be as simple as importing the image and glueing two or more known coordinates of the chart/image to openCPN's coordinate system and the image would simply scale itself?

Re: Import scanned jpeg charts

I can hear you even without the exclamation marks
Try reading the README at https://github.com/seandepagnier/wea.../master/README and following the build instructions there. As all the OpenCPN related stuff, this plugin uses cmake, not auto* toolchain.

Yes I see the readme, however, it's not completely clear.. step two is to 'cd build', but the folder "build" doesn't exist there is buildwin and buildosx which implies they are platform specific.. Cheers

Now I'm a bit confused It of course works also on OS X, but you don't need to build anything there, a prebuilt installation package for this plugin is available directly from the download page (updated today)

Re: Import scanned jpeg charts

I've wrote a graphical tool for this some time ago, it is here:
http://dgiardini.com.ar/imgcalkap/

It can open almost any picture format, and save as kap. It can also open kap files for recalibrate.

It runs o Linux and Windows.

I must to upload the project to github, the actual obscure location is not useful for potential users/contributors.

Regards, David
