C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\opencpn

Try to:
# Adjust your system settings so that hidden files and system files are visible.
# Also change settings so that all file extensions are shown.
This is a problem with the default settings on Windows.

Is Vista your OS?
If so you will not find the .ini file in the same place as used by users with XP. I think I posted in the users manual the Vista .ini file location.

Look in C:\ProgramData\OpenCPN in Windows Vista or Windows 7.

Re: Icons . . . Help Me !

I check the link give about icons, it does have some information for you but the user manual has another section about Icons in "Routes and Marks". There is where some of the paths are identified:

For Vista: The OpenCPN.ini file is located in the C:/USERS/All Users/OpenCPN/

MikePeter..

Just look in the '?' icon of OpenCPN. The path to the required directory is shown at the bottom of the box.

Yes, I tried that recommendation but it did not work on my Vista OS computer, not sure the reason or if this an exception or other.

Re: Icons . . . Help Me !

Are you sure the icons you wish to add are compatible and have the .xpm suffix?
If you send me one of your icons I will check it out.

Tore

P.S. I also have Vista Home version

Re: Icons . . . Help Me !

Thanks for the offer:
I have created Icons and stored them in the proper directory, the trick was finding the location of the .ini file.

I was trying to contribute to this thread by pointing out that not all installs have the .ini file in the same path as shown in the bottom of the ?

The bottom path on my ? screen says:
Logfile location: C:\ProgramData\opencpn\opencpn.log

But my .ini file ended up in a user/all users/OpenCPN directory

(and I believe I setup my OpenCPN directory in the "Program Files" directory and then just let the installer setup 2.5 as it normally does)

FYI, I have been working on a vessel icon that matches my boat; got it close but I need to switch the background to transparent or translucent, not sure which.
