Will,

Much, much, much better. I'm afraid to say perfect because there seems always a way for improvement

my 2 cents, can you make a box around the "show AIS targets"? so its more uniform? Also, is can you come-up with a new icon for the "change colour scheme", so this becomes inline with the other icons?

I see it very much the same as Bart.
I attached 3 icons as a proposal for replacing the existing "change color scheme" icon (couldn't upload them at the moment - sorry).

Additionally I would like to ask if the new AIS icon also reflects the receiving/ working status (have no AIS receiver at home)?
If not, would it be possible?

The new tide/current icons are great. I think the colour scheme button should have something to do with day and night, sorry Gunther.. Looks like MS Paint otherwise

I agree, shades from dark to bright would be better.

You will have to compile the code. This is a bigger subject than I'm willing to cover. A new windows beta should be out soon... they should be included.

Speaking of which, finished making all the changes... I think this is 100% ready now to be merged into the code.

Finished AIS icon/inidicators
Fixed compass and gps indicators
Finished Print icon
Finished GPX icons
Organized PNG code into groups in cpp and header to keep everything clean

Will,

looks really great - thanks for all your work.
But it wouldn't be me, if I had no further proposal ... .

I wonder if we still need the 2 GPX icons since the Route Manager is getting better and better, or just have 1 icon to open the Route Manager window?

No problem Philipp - especially you are right.
I had to setup my computer the last few days so couldn't post my new proposal earlier .

The new icons look really great (though I am missing the 3D look of the buttons, which makes it a little bit harder to recognize the state of a button), but the one for changing the color scheme does not fit.

So what about something like this
