How to use Linux Deploy installing OpenCPN on androids.

p, li { white-space: pre-wrap; } This thread tells you how to configure Linux Deploy in preparation for installing Linux and OpenCPN on an android tablet.

How to use OpenCPN after a successful installation following the instructions here: Building on Motorola Xoom | Official OpenCPN Homepage is adequately covered here: OpenCPN User Manual | Official OpenCPN Homepage

1.) Download the Linux Deploy application from Google Play.
2.) Click on the Linux Deploy icon.

Settings: Accessed by clicking on three vertical dots, upper right hand corner of GUI.

3.) In settings choose a font size you want Linux Deploy to display. Select 'Create Symlink'.
4.) ENV directory should not be changed unless you know what you are doing!
5.) Clicking on Update ENV will update your system. Remove ENV will uninstall Linux...

Set up Installation: Accessed by clicking on arrow icon pointing downward.

1.) The options under 'Deploy' give you the opportunity to choose the Linux Distribution (flavour), window manager and architecture (type of cpu - arm or armhf.) If you followed the installation instructions here: , you will already know your device's architecture.

2.) Select Install GUI.
3.) Specificy what size you want the Image Size (linux filesystem) to be in megabytes. 1,000 megabytes=1 gigabyte. The instructions here Building on Motorola Xoom | Official OpenCPN Homepage recommend 8,000 megabytes or 8 gigabytes. However, your device may not have enough installed space to permit creating an image this large. Either accept the auto size option or enter the size of image you wish to create.
4.) Items under 'Startup' that should be selected are VNC, X Window System, Custom startup and Script file (see thread here about this: http://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/...ds-103649.html ) and Custom mount.
5.) Under VNC Width and Height - change these to match your device screen size.

Leave the other settings alone - unless you know what you are doing!

Make sure you are connected to the internet and have completed all of the steps above. Click on 'Install'.

'Reconfigure' is used if you ever decide to try a different distribution and window manager.
