How to copy a route

Is there a way to copy a route and name rename it leaving the original unchanged. I did read the manual but found nothing about this subject. Certain passages I use and then branch off to get to oter locations so would like to start with a common route. Also just to play with different routes I would like to copy one and use it to build an alternative destination. Thanks

The manipulation of routes, tracks, waypoints, etc. is handled quite nicely by the GPS Utility program

No problem at all in OpenCPN. Just create your base route and export it to a suitable folder on your computer. Then apply some of your small changes to the copy still in O, rename it, and export again, if you like. Import the original file and make some other changes etc etc. You can say that exporting a route, is the same as saving a copy.

Yachtvalhalla, where do you find the GPS Utility program ? I have looked in the manual and on the web site. It is probably big red letters, although I am unable to see it.

I just clicked on your reply and have found it I believe. From the boat I was not able to connect when I originally tried. I will let you know how I do. Thanks. Dave, Aloisius

Click on GPS Utility program and it takes you to the download site.

Or PM me for more information.
