Help with Ownship

I have the current version of open CPN, not beta, and followed the previous threads on making your own ownship. I made the icon, put it in the User Icon folder that I made up and put in the OpenCPN file on my computer and even tried a folder that just says ownship. It is named correctly but doesn't show up when I open the program. Just the default icon. Any suggestions? Chuck

The name of the folder must be "UserIcons", nothing else.
Please attach your "ownship.xpm", if you still have problems.

Re: Help with Ownship

Thanks Thomas, the folder is named correctly, I have read over the posts on doing this in previous threads. When I try and attach the xpm here I get invalid file type. So here it is as a jpg. Chuck

Where exactly is this?
What is the location of the opencpn.ini file on your computer?
To upload ownship.xpm just change the name to ownship.xpm.doc

This is a line drawing of the deck layout for our boat.
The ini file is in C:\Program Data.
Attached. Chuck

Your xpm file is OK. I tried it on my own system. The problem must be where you have your "UserIcons" directory, which you haven't pinpointed.
Make sure to follow this:
Quote:
Create a directory called "UserIcons" in the same place that holds your opencpn.ini(config) file

Re: Help with Ownship

OK, The UserIcon folder was in the Program\OpenCPN folder. I don't know how I missed that one. Many thanks. Chuck
